While I don't disagree with the thrust of your post (I wish they'd let us control the secondary colors), I'm curious as to how you think the secondaries are random. Each dye pretty much has an assigned secondary color, which is usually a shade or two lighter than the primary one. There is a very small number of items that deviate from the normal color (Choral Tights come to mind, with Pure White Dye), but most of them are fairly consistent.

Am I the only one that can tell which parts won't be dyed, so I don't bother dying it?

I think the "flaw" with dye is that a lot of the stuff you would want to dye, you simply can't (e.g. dungeon loot and starter gear) or you have to upgrade it first. Although I don't like it, I can live with having to upgrade my gear before I can dye it, but there's all this extremely cool looking dungeon loot that I would like to wear, but never will because none of it in their current color schemes matches with any of my glamours.

I feel the same with the CT robes.I think the "flaw" with dye is that a lot of the stuff you would want to dye, you simply can't (e.g. dungeon loot and starter gear) or you have to upgrade it first. Of course I think a lack of bright Magenta/Pink colors is the real flaw with dyes, So many glamour ideas are impossible because SE never added colors in the pink category except the very pale colors and MAYBE Rolanberry Red

Actually, there's quite a few items which have wildly different default coloration. Another good example is the Healer's Attire, which starts out red and white. If you dye it, the entire outfit becomes different shades of one color, the red areas included. While I don't disagree with the thrust of your post (I wish they'd let us control the secondary colors), I'm curious as to how you think the secondaries are random. Personally, that alone made me regret 'upgrading' the healer's gear for glamors.
Yet many other items only dye one color and leave the detailings, such as the Highland Smock. If you dye that, only the body color changes and the red band along the bottom stays red. I think the biggest problem, more than anything else, is the inconsistency. I would hugely support the ability to use multiple dyes so that we can color in the details as well as the main outfit. That way, people who want to go monotone can do so, while those of us who enjoy the detailings can at least be sure there won't be any color clash.

This is where I miss the dye functions I remember from my brief time in WildStar.
All (most?) gear had three different color slots, eg. the actual pants being one slot and the pads on the knees being a second slot. You could then dye these slots separately, so you could create dark brown leather pants with bright red pads if you wanted.
What I also miss and would like here is the ability to preview a dye on a piece of gear in my crafting list or on the MB so I can actually see what it's going to look like after being dyed!

An option were we can choose if only the primary part or every part of the gear should be dyed would be nice

That's not what I was talking about at all.

Absolutely need to ability to dye both primary and secondary portions of gear.
All gear should qualify, dungeon, old, newest etc.
Intensity of dye needs to be consistant of the actual dye you are using : using pure white on many tanking gears and augmented drg for example...turn out a puke grey not pure white, that should be fixed.
In Rift, whenever one is using the best quality of dye it dyes solid, and a perfect match to the original dye no matter what color it is "covering" nor what material either (as it should) Can also dye both primary and secondary there.
I realize all these have been asked so many times, and a long time ago, shame nothing at all has been adjusted....eek![]()
