Ps3 may have its hardware limits but really what will happen (on ff14 at least) is a large drop in playerbase. We're already experiencing population lows on many servers and giving ps3 the axe will only add to that as most people with ps3 don't want a monthly PS plus subscription just to play online. Hopefully it's handled in a way where its not "say goodbye to all ps3 users after this maintenance"
You don't need to pay PS+ to play FFXIV on the PS4.
