I'm hoping that they do all sorts of weird things with the headgear. Some sitting on top, some sticking out sideways or from the back, some halfway embedded in the hair with the underside facing out.

Credit goes to Niqo'te for her fabulous art in the "Nique's happy fun time!"-thread and Nix/Capa for the Caitlyn drawing to the right. \(^_^ )/

There are armour sets with actual skirts as the leg slot for males that aren't a skirt+pants combo like Foestriker's and Infantry. As far as the DRK chest piece goes, it's not so much a skirt as it is really long tassets/faulds giving off the illusion of a long skirt, though perhaps with a little overhang over the top thighs.

I'm glad the afro will be unisex but the fact the yukata are gender specific still really hurts my feelings.
In fact, not bring able to put a maid uniform on my male retainers also really hurts my feelings.

Why not just introduce a third gender option that allows the wearing of all gear but 'enhances' the body according to the 'intended gender' it was designed for? It would be quite novel (I don't know if it's groundbreaking as I've not checked other MMOs) & certainly generate a lot of press. There's no good reason why a fantasy world has to be binary gender anyway.
I getcha there, but hey, I wouldn't mind some cute lingerie for guys you know? Chipendale is nice and all.. But what I'd really love is for the girl's set to be made unisex with another set added to it that's more "Chipendale" themed that's also unisex. Poofy sleeves and tight chest pieces or Bow ties and as much chest exposed as possible for everyone!
Plus like, come on Noxifer you know if they add "male-specific equipment" it's going to be much more cool/relaxed looking compared to the sexy/cute looking "female-specific equipment", and that's so dull and limiting! I'd love if there wasn't any sex specific equipment in general, unisex it all and try to keep the appearances as close to possible.
I'm a giant dragon and heretic sympathizer and I love character customization
See my thread about equalizing the heights for men and women of each race! http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/253435-A-suggestion-regarding-height.

Think about what that's going to look like... on Lalafell.
Bahahahahahaaaaa
Yes it does. And we have plenty of skirts in general (everything from Foestriker to Infantry to various short tank skirts to Plain Long Skirt to the new HW dungeon drops). That's why I said that skirts is something that IMO does not need to look different whether it's a guy or a gal who wears it. =) Lingerie... isn't, since the point of lingerie is to highlight the 'sexy' parts of the body, and those are pretty different on a male and a female body (crudely speaking; package vs bewbs -- not that I ever foresee us getting any equipment to highlight our package, due to JP censoring rules).
I know that, it was mostly a sarcastic/cynical retort along the lines of that "if you want to wear it, just fantasia into a female!" argument that always pops up in the make-this-unisex threads. I'd also prefer equality not only when it comes to number of outfits but also to the general theme of them. Just like you, I don't like how (for example) the female Thavnairian set is "harem girl" while the 'male' version is "adventurer/harem owner". I want to be able to be a harem boy, dammit ;_;I getcha there, but hey, I wouldn't mind some cute lingerie for guys you know? Chipendale is nice and all.. As for bunny/chipendale, it's a reasonable "equipment morph". While I'd love it if they made it available as-is to male characters, I can also see the arguments why it wouldn't be. And that an "equipment morph" depending on the gender equipping it has a far greater chance of getting the approval from high-up.
