It mostly seems the only real people that have problems with parsers are those that feel they are an inferior player in some way. Telling them so only exacerbates their feelings and then we have so much salt over the very mention of parsers. I play on PS4, can not parse, and have no trouble identifying a weak link in most groups, simply by utilizing that handy enmity list next to the party list.

People need thicker skins. However, him repeatedly coming back to you to tell you he wants to train you is odd. Wouldn't they tell you this and let you follow up if you even wanted to keep "being trained"? Otherwise he might just have needed a project and since you are somewhat new he thought you would be more accepting. Either way just ignore and move on, do research on your role, and watch videos to get an idea of what kind of damage you should be putting out.

Some days ago we were in Neverreap and literally disintegrating mobs, including bosses. I was playing a bit relaxed on positioning, doing a lot of AOEs, because we were going so fast anyway that I didn't see the point in stressing myself overmuch (was a bit tired too). Then, this conversation happens in chat:
Elitist: "Why don't you do the right positioning rotation? You lower your DPS to almost nothing."
Nice player: "No, she's doing good for her gear."
Goodberry: "Almost nothing seems a bit exaggerated."
However, I started minding positioning more and so we cleared the instance in 0.1% less time. :P

Some people just can't help themselves. Just shrug it, using the occasional good advice (this does not mean you should allow anybody to dictate the way you play the game). But if someone should become a problem, blacklist and/or report.

If the run was going fast it wasnt cause of you..trust me.

yah cuz in game tools to give you a better understanding of things is bad, k. I fundamentally understand how to translate the enmity list, especially when dps are concerned and you are working with over a minutes of battle time. I'm sorry you do not because it is very helpful.

It's not even based soley on damage dealt though.

A ninja's enmity will always be lower if he utilizes Shadewalker to transfer enmity to the tank. And BLMs and BRDs using Quelling Strikes halve their opener enmity.

I dont think thats the point, hes on a ps4 he has NOTHING else to gauge dps, someone with no enmity on their bar at all while one other dps is close to taking aggro means the guy at the bottom of the enmity list is definitely in their offensive abilities if the difference is that obvious

Because it's not an accurate measurement of what he's trying to gauge.

I dont think thats the point, hes on a ps4 he has NOTHING else to gauge dps, someone with no enmity on their bar at all while one other dps is close to taking aggro means the guy at the bottom of the enmity list is definitely in their offensive abilities if the difference is that obvious
