Blunt Weapons as options for exisiting DoW

I was thinking today how cool it would be to see my Paladin use a mace. Not for any effect, just the visual. A shield/mace combo is a common sight in fantasy settings, and the mace could even be given "edges" to justify lore wise the lack of an altered damage type.

I don't get it. That's not a mace, even a little. That is a proto-sword with obsidian edges used by South American tribes in the past. Not fantasy knights. I've honestly always thought including those things made no sense.
