Right now, the only thing to do is log on, grind my daily esoterics (which I haven't done in a few days due to boredom) or grind a new job or gathering/crafting class. The problem is, there really isn't anything to keep things fresh. I have some side quests left in HW, but they were so boring the first time around, I have no real desire to do more fetch/kill/delivery quests. As I've said before, other games have mixed up the quest formula, adding stealth missions, investigation missions and really awesome more to all the quests you get. FFXIV has lost Moogles. Even Destiny has mixed up their missions with the new expansion and made the game fun again, which is what I'll be playing for the foreseeable future.
I'm on vacation the week of November 10th. I will be locked away scouring the Boston Wastelands with my pip-boy on my arm. So, I see FFXIV being put on the back burner for a few months at least. When the grind is all you have, and it's a boring grind, it kind of kills incentive to keep playing. The game is great when fresh, but it quickly wears thin on a second pass.
