Right now, the only thing to do is log on, grind my daily esoterics (which I haven't done in a few days due to boredom) or grind a new job or gathering/crafting class. The problem is, there really isn't anything to keep things fresh. I have some side quests left in HW, but they were so boring the first time around, I have no real desire to do more fetch/kill/delivery quests. As I've said before, other games have mixed up the quest formula, adding stealth missions, investigation missions and really awesome more to all the quests you get. FFXIV has lost Moogles. Even Destiny has mixed up their missions with the new expansion and made the game fun again, which is what I'll be playing for the foreseeable future.

I'm on vacation the week of November 10th. I will be locked away scouring the Boston Wastelands with my pip-boy on my arm. So, I see FFXIV being put on the back burner for a few months at least. When the grind is all you have, and it's a boring grind, it kind of kills incentive to keep playing. The game is great when fresh, but it quickly wears thin on a second pass.

You make it sound like the actual quit/newb ratio is 1:1. Any stats from actual reliable websites to back that up? And alts? Sure. I've a few myself. I don't care if an FC member is an alt from (server), only that they're active. Alts have always existed, for whatever reason. So what? Alts aren't the issue, they're all the same sub.

Let people be bored. Let them leave. That's their prerogative. New people come in, life goes on. Regarding RAF being an "OSHIT" button for dramatic sub dropoff, show me links and stats proving this, and I'm more likely to believe you.

I'm out, I have an actual game to enjoy.

It's not what? More like a single-player game? If that's what you mean, then I have to disagree, sorry. I've managed to play almost the entire game on an alt without really talking to anybody because, well, the game doesn't really give you reason to interact with people outside of instances. This is completely subjective, of course, but I know I'm not the only one that shares this sentiment. I've seen a number of posts saying the same thing. One of players' biggest gripes is the silence that is in so many instances, until you wipe. Then there's just rage.

As for it competing with single-player games, well, it's evident from people flocking to Fallout 4 that it most certainly is competing with them. Granted, every game has competition from other markets. But just look at how a previous poster stated their FC isn't really interested in coming back, at least for a while. What that says to me is that the social aspect of the game isn't strong enough to make people miss it. At least, not in this case. I've personally seen the same thing happen to a number of people, myself included.

As for "it's a highly anticipated sequel", I'm not sure if you're referring to FFXIV, Fallout 4, or Persona 5, sorry.

And I'm not sure where StarCraft II comes into the equation, sorry. I've never played that game, so I can't remark on it either way.

well, 1/40 on the first page ain't bad

Seriously though, who plays a modern Bethesda game before the SDK is out?

I'd gladly give you the information if SE actually bothered to release information based on this games subs, however they don't and that means you can't even prove how good the game is doing either. However if you actually bothered to browse the site you'll see many posts popping up by players who are leaving/left because the game has zero content to hold players interests at the current time.

I stated cash shop was implemented after SE said they likely wouldn't do it, then friend referral program was brought into play. If the game didn't need help generating revenue or subs, cash shop wouldn't be as big as it is, nor would the friend referral program force players to sub for months to get rewards. They've experimented and succeed in obtaining revenue from sources other then the subscriptions.

Last time I checked mmos need a steady amount of content for the games to be successful and HW has nothing and won't have nothing for 2 more months. Meaning this game has been unattended for 5 months, if you think playing this bare bones expansion is worthwhile all the power to you, but while you sit here and basically read the same page from a book over and over again, I like you, will be enjoying actual games that have new and fun content such as Metal Gear Solid 5, Until Dawn, Taken King and shortly Halo 5 and Fallout 4.

I play it through once in original form, unless there's graphical upgrades available. I don't touch gameplay mods until I best the game at least once in its original form. Then I mod the crap out them.

As for FFXIV, I realize that everyone MMO is a grind. However, some do a much better job at disguising it and making it fun. Sadly, FFXIV is one of the worst at it. Made even worse by the fact that the job system doesn't even really give an incentive to play a new character outside of being able to play through the story again.

Speaking of mutants , going back to Fallout 1 what was the lore about those missing raccoons and were they ever referenced again?
