because it's impossible to gear them all at the same rate
Not really my bard and healer both have a eso wep and top i just switch every week and a haf but i do agree they need to slow down with new tomes and gear and ilvl since yes i agree it is hard to enjoy gear when new crap comes out every 3 months. As for the rest your saying i can't really agree i mean ppl wanted bigger zones {they got them} ppl wanted stronger monsters and mobs {they got them} SE cant and will never plz everyone this is a fact

The thing about flip-flop gearing is it makes you a Jack-of-all-trades, but master of none. While you can gear two jobs at the same rate, they'll never be as geared as if you just focused on one. (not a problem if you're not pushing top tier content, though)

Ultimately, the fundamental problem this thread is talking about is that there's an incredible lack of variety, both in game difficulty and content types, when it comes to advancing one's character (which includes all jobs). This coupled with the rate at which gear becomes obsolete leads to burn out, frustation, and boredom.

Having more options is typically better than having less.

    it makes you a Jack-of-all-trades
That's the point right? if your really trying to get all your jobs to 60 your never going to be a master your always going to be a Jack-of-all-trades. Now if you stick two 3 or so classes then you will prob master them and gear them better {that's why i only pic jobs i like} also this game never really makes you have a need to be top gear unless your doing a hard core boss ex fight or something like Alexander savage. But you can skip stuff like them and still gear up nicely. This game never makes you play hard core or soft but rather lets you pick how you want to play this was an expansion right? not a new game

That is the point but it doesn't seem to quite work that way....

In the Armoury System, changing your adventuring style—or class—is as simple as changing what you hold in your hand.

Each class is capable of performing unique actions which are learned as you gain experience and your level rises. Furthermore, achieving a certain level of mastery in multiple classes will unlock jobs, which feature even greater specialization.

Classes are suited to those who desire versatility, as they allow the use of actions that belong to other disciplines. In contrast, jobs grant access to exclusive actions and are ideal for situations that demand well-defined roles. Which fighting style you adopt is entirely up to you.
As quoted via the lodestone. Now, if I bring anything other then my geared up SMN to a primal EX, or alexander...people ask me wtf am I doing, bringing a gimp job vs a well geared one. Why anyone would do that in any situation is beyond me. There is no doubt about it, the tome system and weekly lockouts contradict the bejeebus outta the armory system.

In 1.23 it made sense...you could play any job efficiently in any situation, even if one had better gear it didn't matter too much, only melds and such made a huge difference, but I found myself able to gear multiple jobs easily and play them all quite efficiently without causing a problem.

I don't see why it should matter to people what job you bring to EX primals and Alexander as long as it's capable of doing the content. There's something to be said for variety. My PLD is my best geared job at i196, but I don't always want to play PLD. When I do Alex normal, I frequently take my DRK (i189) for tank credits. Then there's times I don't want to tank or that people that only have tank (or want to tank) go with us, so I'll end up on SCH/AST at i186 or even BRD/BLM at i180. Nobody complains because all of them are more than sufficient for the content we're engaging. Unless your "gimp jobs" are wearing the i160 gear from the Expert dungeons and barely scraping by on item level by wearing the wrong accessories, they really have nothing to complain about.

If you're talking about Alexander Savage, then yeah of course you should be trying to take your best-geared job.

Well, I suppose it is because bringing anything else other then your best geared would be insufficient. It's like why use something less then the best you have to offer? I know one can say, well to have fun..of course Well for me it isn't fun to be less then my best for my group of people I am playing with...they deserve the very best out of me and I would expect the same from them. Not everyone thinks like that of course...

Now, if it ilvl gap wasn't big...okay, by all means bring a diff job...but with how the current lockout system is..it makes it very difficult to gear up all the jobs equally. I was expecting them to fix that in the expansion but here we are...
