New FCs, how do you go about it?

Hello there. I just wanted to know what people's thoughts were about making an new FC. My friend owns her own FC in Balmung and no matter how hard i look i can't seem to find an FC like hers or at lest that has the same feeling as hers here on Behemoth.

So I've been thinking about making my own FC here. I want to start it out small so as the leader i can get to know everyone as it slowly grows. I want to be a leader that can help fellow members as much as I can. An FC that can work together towards new content and help with older stuff too. one that could also help with crafting and gathering, I would also like to plan weekly runs & our own holiday events. And having voice chat ready for those who are comfortable with that would be a must as well.

I want to make an fun, super friendly FC that welcomes new comers and older players of the game. But I know starting an FC isn't easy, and it could be rough start. So i wanted to know what other people think. or how other leaders went about starting there own FC.

(sorry went over the limit had to make a second post! ^^;; )

    One day you will realize,
The stars you are chasing shine bright deep inside you,

But will you ever let it shine from within,
And cast all of your fears aside?

Well, you have a good start there; you know the kind of people you would like to attract and you have a good idea about the activities you would like to do.
It isn't very easy to do this all on your own, if you have a couple of friends (at least) who can act as officers and help with recruiting that would make your life a lot easier.
The only other advice I'd offer is to think what your FC can offer that others don't.

What makes that FC unique? If you can identify what makes her FC better than all the ones you have tried, you should have an idea of what you can offer that people won't get anywhere else.
And good luck, it's a lot of work but running a FC can be very rewarding.

I agree with Solarra, you have a wonderful start. My FC started the same way. Three friends and I decided to start one up, and we are all coleaders able to lead and guide the FC. It might be difficult at the start, but just keep at it and you will have a great FC in no time. :3

Firstly, be aware that running a (successful/active) FC is a serious time commitment. Less so if you're OK with it just being friends and lower activity levels. But as others have said and as you seem to have done somewhat already... set goals, know what kind of FC you're building, and then work towards that. Note that (despite what some might claim/try) there's no such thing as an FC that would appeal to everyone. But that's ok. If you want a laid back, friendly environment (vs something like competitive raiding, etc)... stick to that and don't pretend to be something you're not. You'll have higher player retention this way.

But on that note, note that recruiting is a constant process and people will leave to find other FCs they feel fits them better. It's normal, don't let that eat at you too much.

Lastly, the one thing I caution about when starting with a group of friends... Go out of your way to try to include new recruits in activities, conversations, and so on. It's very easy for some members to feel excluded in what may come to be perceived as a cliquish environment (thus leading to higher turnover). Really make people feel part of the group and they're a lot more likely to stick around for much longer.

    Good luck!

Very true with what others have said and i would suggest start small and work from there. Larger Free Companies tend to have "cliques" within the group and some members tend to get ignored. Not saying smaller groups it does not happen, just less likely.
Our FC was started as a premiss of having fun and helping each other out, new players and veteran players alike. We are very chill, not mainly focused on raiding but just having fun.
So establish what it is your focus is, either casual were people come to have fun, talk, etc.. or a hardcore group were as pretty much just run things like Savage a few times a week and the rest of the week not even log on, lol
Also in our group i have assigned a few officers in which i very much trust to help out, it works great. Even went as far as giving certain members their own title as i find it is even the small Gestures that help
Having various events even say with prizes always would make members feel welcome so i think you are on track
