I thought that the lore of the summoner was that you have this empty grimore (made by alchemists) and you write in its pages to conjure the magic. I mean, when you cast a summon don't you stand there writing in the page for a few seconds? And then you hold it open and read from it when casting other stuffs.

No idea about the lore, either I skipped over it or it wasn't clear when leveling? *shrug*

I do write in the book with some quill that I pull out of who knows where when summoning. That is the only time I write in it however. When casting anything else, I hold the book open and hold my hand over it and shoot it away. However, there is always stuff written in the book, right from the get-go. My current book looks like is has a strategy for one of the circle-arena fights :P

There were no one-handed weapons and shields for these jobs since Leviathan EX and I doubt we'll see them again.
Even if I have T5 BLM shield I can't even glamour it anymore because it requires one-handed cane to be equipped and all relevant weapons for these jobs are two-handed for more than a year.
I'm not sure why they still keep this system in 3.0 when rudimentary shield sub-class was removed with 1.20 patch:

No, no, no and no. WHM and BLM should NOT get rid of their shield slot. The exact opposite should happen. TheY should keep the shield slot and SE shoul put some 1 handed weapons and shield back in the game at ilvls past 70-100. I don't care what happened in v1.2, that was a different game.

Some players enjoy the asthetic of shield use, and it also provides a little horizontal progression sinice you can choose between a slightly more powerful weapon and slightly better defense. If people could drop the big numbers mentality and just look a little more at playing for fun, we'd have a more rounded game.

Most jobs have never had anything that can go in the off-hand slot. Even Ninja, which dual wields, does so with a single item that acts as a pair.

I think we should have more one handed staffs for both classes, tbh.
It'd be nice to have them come back.
