The Autumn War happened about eighty years before the game happened and according to Gamer Escape's Lore Train on the Autumn War they were peaceful up until the Garleans set foot in Eorzea. Even with everything King Theodoric was doing it was mostly focused in Gyr Abania and Ala Mhigo rather than breaking any of the Alliance's treaties.

Well to be fair I think war crimes is streaching it too far don't get me wrong I do think the Garland government is a monster. But I don't think Erozea has a formal conduct of war (Laws of War) there's no declaration of what is and isn't acceptable when it comes to war.

To be fair, That depends on whether you are talking about a moral or legal stance. Yeah, there is no Hague to take them to task, but if they're going about it as monsters, you can bet no one is going to want to work with them.

Edit: I should be clear, I don't think the aquisition of Weapons of mass destruction is bad ((Though Progect meteor was going to be used, since I think researching Dalamud somehow tempered the people doing so. They likely didn't know that when they did it though.)) It is no more worse than a modern government having nuclear weapons.

Ah yes, because disagreements and individual nations having their own self interests (By the way Ala Mhigo was never apart of the Eorzean Alliance) are a million times worse than forced peace through oppression. Rhitahtyn was a fool, never realizing that forced obedience is no better than constant war, he never was put in a situation to disagree with Garlemald through his disillusion of peace and loyality to Gaius, I'd wonder what his opinions of what happened in Doma would've been. The Eorzean Empire may be at it's disagreements but they can still work together for a more pragmatic solution, with the Garlean empire it's their way or the highway.

It was for a time then Garmald invaded by first throwing a rock at the hornets nest that is Ala mhigo by making the problems they wer havering worse which caused the people to riot making it easy for them to just walk right in. Garmalds government brings nothing but subjugation where people are told you will do as we say or we will kill you.

Well they deserved it being warmongers themselves I can't say I have any sympathy for the Al Amighans. I mean they also worship a god that literally is all about destruction. They sound pretty evil themselves.
