People who avoid the forums, because they don't like it: if you can't follow a link from the lodestone/launcher and click "Like!" on one of the posts that is their problem.

Whoever was banned: I've read a couple of those thread on those "prominent forums" and what I can tell is, you never know if they are telling the whole truth. Since you never hear the other side / moderator's you'll never be able to tell whether it was legitimate or not. When one in my first static got temporarily suspended I've asked them if it was because they bought gil, it was clear as day they did but they said "no". Later when they decided to quit the game, because of "unfair treatment" they also admitted to buying gil. Totally innocent there.
You don't have to reply "politely to nonsense" you can just skip it without calling people names.

You know what is truly bogus with all this hub bub about hair styles? The lack the Chin hairs and nose hairs of it all. All the clean shaven fools that we must be. I still want all the facial hair options around, darn you!!

Not to mention that you do need an active account to vote, it's fine to be able to vote if you say, take a break from the game. but plan on coming back but decide to vote.

Technically wrong. You need to have an active account AND have played FFXIV in the past 14 days to be able to login to the forums and post/like posts. So if you take a break, and you haven't touched XIV in two weeks, you won't be able to vote.

Hopefully not. I mean, these threads have been shining examples of the entitled attitudes some people have, but the contests themselves have brought the community together better than anything the aforementioned people have yet to suggest (for lack of suggesting anything). I would honestly love to see more of these kinds of contests. Who knows, I might even be able to enter one. XD

Hm, wouldn't that be a petition or something?

But they could create an ingame voting option, no? Runescape does it iirc (haven't played in some time) and one has to assume that game is almost dead at this point, so it's not like it took them an incredible amount of dev efforts to put into the game. They could even make it a quest with the hair guy, at the end you could pick out one of his drawings and one of drawings, and then SE could track it that way. That would take more development time though.

many of my fc mates went and registered to the forums first time just to vote in the hairstyle contest. I am one of the only few in my fc that actually is actively lurking on the forums here even thou I rarely post. I do think the whole uproar about the contest after the finalist had been chosen is ridiculous thou.

Have you not seen the current forerunners? The leading female style is, and this is using my terminology, an overly complex shojo manga style and the leading male style is a messy bangs samurai ponytail with a bell dangling from the hair tie. Those aren't what I'd call generic at all.
