I don't think there is going to be an easy way for SE to win with this. People will complain regardless what they do.

This is really a terrible argument that presents a false equivalency. For an entire year hardly anyone actually cared that old holiday items were still on the vendor. NOT putting them on the cash shop is clearly the better option. It's financially a better deal for players.

SE pretty much has 3 possibilities how to handle old event/vanity stuff:
1) Add it to the new event = old players will complain that new players can easily get it despite not being there for the original, and that SE could have added more new stuff instead.

Honestly it only makes sense to put these things in the cash shop. SE has to find a balance when it comes to these seasonal events target can't simply just recycle old rewards in to every event just so new players can get them cause then old players will bitch that it's just the same stuff again and frankly there are a lot of old players compared to old players. Plus ummm players and still buy the ukatas in gridania for gill. The bomb dance being in the cash shop is a smart move in my opinion.

You can't buy the new yukatas from last year unless you had done the quest from last year. So new players still don't get them and besides that everyone else who played last year got the new yukatas and were also given the option to buy the older ones with gil so... Also don't say they are doing this to make more content for this game when they are making more than enough from subs alone. If they were going to do this they should of never even put it up for sale at the mogstation at least try to make it not look like a cash grab cause that's all this is. You are lucky they even considered offering it in any way shape or form, as it was originally designed to be the exclusive reward from one specific summer's event.

If it was exclusive then they should of not sold you the old yukatas with gil during last year with the new ones. Also I checked the event page and nothing says the event is exclusive so don't try to misguide others with false information.

Emote was rewarded by a quest that remains unique to this day. At least they are allowing you to still obtain the emote, when they can just forever bar you away from it by not putting it in the cash shop, like many other things of the past.

If you didn't get it last year, most likely you weren't subscribed to the game, especially so when your forum join date predates summer 2014. Cash shop seems to be gunning for frequent on and off subscribers like OP and the majority of players speaking out against this reasonable use behind the cash shop.

I don't care if every event page has that notice that does not mean it's exclusive especially when it says seasonal event that has been happening every year where players got event items for free. I don't care about the fact that they have a cash shop but the fact that they made something that was free and turned it into something that now requires cash which mostly hurts new players who were unaware that they used to give these items out for free it's the biggest slap in the face. Won't be long before Square takes Aesthetician and has it charging money instead of gil but hey you'll get over it right.
