Emotes in the cash shop..

Cash shop was okay until they added a bunch of event items and an emote from a year ago. I wonder why nobody flipped out when Sleipnir became a cash shop item, when SE could have made it a rare drop from Odin.

Ooooh, boy, I can't wait until they put the Wind-Up Shantotto on the cash shop.

You weren't paying attention to the forum, then. People were up in arms about that as well because a lot of people (not everyone, maybe not the majority, but still a significant amount) choose to play a P2P game to -avoid- being nickle and dimed for various pieces of content. Some people actually prefer to get stuff from stuff they do in the game, not from stuff they do where they work to earn money.

Are you new? Or did you gloss over the fact people also freaked out about the Odin mount. Hell I hardly see people ride the thing these days I'd like to think in part of not wanting to look like they are riding a inflated wallet.

And maybe I did gloss over it, or, perhaps, miss it completely. Can you blame me? It all starts to blend together, like a whole bunch of red, pink, and orange being thrown into a bucket. It looks the same.

You are lucky they even considered offering it in any way shape or form, as it was originally designed to be the exclusive reward from one specific summer's event.

I don't think there is going to be an easy way for SE to win with this. People will complain regardless what they do. Either that its too easy to get, or that they need to pay for it or that its not available at all. Its not like the dance emote was bought in the event. You had to do a quest chain to earn it.

The thing a lot of people ignore with Cash Shops in subscription games is that things sold on them are usually allocated resources to be developed based on the projected earnings from the Cash Shop. If they weren't in the Cash Shop there is a very real chance they wouldn't have been developed in the first place. The Cash Shop adds an additional revenue stream that offers them not just extra profits but funds to pay for things that the fan base keep asking for like European Data Centres. Now people can say 'well they should be doing that anyway' but the response to that is, what amount of content are you willing to give up for it? The funds to pay for other features would need to come from somewhere.

Wow, Seriously people, its VANITY stuff, including the emotes. This could be content in the game? SERIOUSLY do you guys not understand anything? They use this sold older vanity content TO MAKE NEW CONTENT! Use old vanity content.... to fund new content....

Stop complaining and understand the dynamics around the choices, in the end this is far more helpful to the community then being able to /bombdance for free.

People are complaining about something they've been doing since last Halloween. You might not agree with it, but I doubt complaining about it will make them suddenly change a pattern that they've had going for a year now.

I actually expected all the old yukatas and swimsuits to go up in the cash shop and was surprised when they added many of them back in game. I started playing about half a year after release, so I missed the first New Years, little ladies, and Easter events and I've had to buy my share of old event items off the cash shop if I wanted them.

SE pretty much has 3 possibilities how to handle old event/vanity stuff:
1) Add it to the new event = old players will complain that new players can easily get it despite not being there for the original, and that SE could have added more new stuff instead.
2) Add it to the cash shop = some old players will complain that new players can get it despite not being there for the original. Some new players will complain that they have to pay if they want it. And some players will complain that SE is using a cash shop in a p2p game.
3) Don't add the old items at all = new players will complain that they have no way to get it.
