The existence of "FFXIV Encyclopedia" in the future.

Hello all the scholars of Eorzea,

This is quite a silly question, and I don't know if it had been asked before, but this has been a big dream and everyday question that I have been keep asking myself.

Do you think we can see the existence of an encyclopedia about FFXIV in the long future?

We can read about the beginning of many countries, the birth of many races and clans, the history of the Allagan, the timeline since the First Umbral Era and the climax that changed them, the origin of some monsters, etc. or even how the story have been so far currently.

And in FFXIV case, a massive world with a massive history and untold stories. I think, why not?

As I have seen how this turned out to be with one of my favourite game I'm currently playing, the Diablo franchise. The story and its lore keep coming from time to time, and Blizzard has also done a good job to organized them for fanbase who are interested in them, so they can have a complete view of the world of Diablo.

There is one problem with FFXIV, beside the rewatch cutscenes system in the inn and reading the Journal logs to briefly recatch what happen in the specific quest, you will still miss important things from NPC dialogues. And if you miss this, you will miss them forever. (Unless you go to some database website or wiki to read these dialogues again, but it still a complicate job to do) It's also a really hard job for new players that join into the world of Eorzea and still cannot catch fully nearly everything that already happened or currently happen in the game.

So what is your opinion about this? Do you think we will see one someday from SE? Or do you think Anonymoose will write one?

I don't think we ever saw one for Vana'diel, so my hopes aren't too high, but if any team was going to do it, this one would.

Or do you think Anonymoose will write one?

And if they don't, I probably will, you're right, lol. I plug away at the wiki when I can, but it's only a hop, skip, and a jump from a wiki's foundations to a textbook. I just never know what to work on in what order; I'm terribly scatterbrained about it.

In my experience, all games and rpg settings of a certain caliber end up having a very detailed wiki of their lore and quests. Heck, even some fellas decide to make decent wikis of second rate action games or series and their stories. XD. As about a full fledged official enciclopedia, maybe sometime in the form of online articles, blizzard took years to make his own.

I really would love to see something of sorts. Some games just have too much story that you see wasted and you want to know, knowing stories and information of golden age of allagan empire and other eras, and so on would be fascinating, i would even buy a encyclopedia of sorts with informations, stories , and a whole universe of things to get immersed into. Unfortunately i think thats not happening, but who knows. Maybe if it happens in years....

Here's hoping that the Great Gubal Library will be open to the General Public now that we've cleared it of most of the security measures Sharlayan scholars placed.

Maybe the quests involving those scholars in Ishgard will be lore-related?

And I guess the main story will lead us more deeply into Sharlayan matters someday.

Would be awesome to have it to include every cut scene from 1.0 in blue ray as well as the scripts.

The lore forums could probably work together to make one on Wikia

If we wanted to develop something like a lore database it wouldn't be hard to gather up experts from the lore forum. But I think the allure of something official is that it can fill in gaps where we've only speculated.
