My monk could not kill an add in time for the missile if i had to dodge an aoe. First time i got kicked after first wipe. Second time someone called for a third dps on my oppressor.
It was embarrassing.

Ah, sounds like you just need to practice your rotation more.

Clearly, the best Final Fantasy character is Locke Cole.
Glamour is TRUE ENDGAME
Well personally I Tank with mine.
The Mobs, The Bosses, The Floor, you name it.
But honestly, It's all skill. Theres just a smaller skill curve for Dragoons to be competent. How ever, when one does suck it is increadibly visable amd no one has to ask.

Yep, you just need practice. Look up some threads on Monk rotations, and get on the dummy everyday and practice.
Or stick with Scholar, healer life is great too.
I think the OP is saying that Dragoon is the only dps class that does decent damage.
While it's true that DRG is currently #1 in terms of flat-out single target dps, you have to know the advantages of other jobs too. I'm assuming you don't considering you made this thread. Also I'm not sure why everyone is on the BLM bandwagon when SMN is very competitive in terms of aoe damage.
As far as DRG popularity goes, you have to understand that people will play classes just because it looks cool. Do I even have to remind you of what pretty much 90% of people did on Early Access? DRG has been a popular class all the way back when animation locks were extreme and their dps was awful. Now after a few buffs and 3.0 putting them on a pedestal, its even more popular than it ever was. This doesn't mean other classes suck.
This was not intended to be about me messing up A1.
Six time out seven last week, healing expert roulette, i got dragoon and black mage. The population would not be over-representing them for no reason.

Monks got buffs that it arguably didn't need (but I'll take 'em anyway!), with TK CD reduction being the only criticism I had before the buffs, and that's more of a situational QoL change. Prior to the buffs, they were competitive, and after the buffs, they are still competitive. We see quite a number of dragoons, probably because they are, thematically speaking in this expansion, FotM, in a good spot, and still quite fun at 45+.
Dragoon as a job is not OP, monk (along with a number of other jobs) as a job is not bad. Good players will be competitive with each other, and people become good with practice. If you want to stick it out with monk, start hitting those dummies. Don't be discouraged because of others and take it in stride and better yourself!![]()

Monk do great DPS...but if you have this inferiority complex then switch to Dragoon...not sure what you are asking here. Yes lots of people play Goon and Black Mage/Summoner now...I would just play what you like and have fun and not worry about it.
Server: BEHEMOTH
FC: CASCADIA
Playing since Beta phase 3
How do people know there DPS and that of other peoples when this game doesn't support add ons? I want to raid in this game like I do in WoW. I haven't geared up enough yet but I figure wouldn't it be hard to do savage mode when you don't know if people are pulling their weight?
If Square Enix wants to have very difficult content they need to rethink adding add ons.
