You forgot challenge logThere are only four ways to get gil: Quests, mob drops (only spoken and humanoid voidsent), selling materials to vendors, and roulette bonuses. Every other source of gil, most notably the market board, isn't really "getting gil" it's "trading for gil another player has amassed."
Edit: Forgot one more way, collectables reward some gil as well.
Guildleves, lvl 50 dungeon mobs, dailies, daily hunts, etc. There's even an achievement for making millionaire status from guildleves. The hunts give like 15k a day if you do just the centurio set. There's are many ways for just a battle class to generate gil.
Dance naked.
People will pay you to stop.
The game doesn't need more ways to generate gil, what it needs is for the damn grind that was added to Gathering and Crafting to cater to greedy players to be removed so players can be self-sufficient with a reasonable amount of effort. This will in turn cause prices on the MB to drop because more people will be able to gather mats and craft stuff.
Gathering and Crafting were already stupidly grindy before Heavensward, now it's just crap with bloated mat requirements for recipees and so many essential materials walled behind unspoiled/hidden nodes.

It could be in comparison to other games I guess? In WoW I could level a profession and craft whatever I wanted in less than a few days, but that also leads to their gear being almost worthless (unless it requires extremely rare mats) and they're just a side thing to do. You can't just be a crafter/gatherer, unless you want to bore yourself to death.
1.0 here was designed that you could be.It could be in comparison to other games I guess? 2.0 on, not so much. Try as they like, it'll never be the case again.
Mining is an easy way to make gil. It's not hard to level and the rewards are more than worth the effort. Doing it with War/Magic is more a by product of doing your dailies etc. It's not very efficient in my view at least. I usually gather in the mornings when I wake up. It's something that doesn't require a lot of effort once leveled and it's profitable.
You know you could lvl up crafters to help with repairing gear. That saves up some because using 50k is just silly imo
