share your bad experiences tanking

blame the tank is real.
we've probably all run into a few people that trash talked you, if not count yourselves lucky. share your stupid moments here just to vent or whatever.

about a week or so ago I was tanking temple of qarn with the slowest dps ive seen in this game period. I haven't got 60 yet so that might not be saying much, but oh boy was it slow. when we reached the last boss the healer finally said
"spamming unleash doesn't do much damage"
it took me a second to realize, since I was expecting that he finally called out the dpsers, but then it hit me unleash is a DRK spell.

well apart from just being wrong (we had been doing large pulls where unleash is best), what kind of person complains about the dps of the tank before the actual DPS!?

I just turn off the chat window and all goes well. In all seriousness though I very rarely have bad runs, sure there are derps here and there. I'll make a joke about it and we carry on, most either just laugh it off or just say nothing. My only really bad go was Garuda EX (actually still haven't completed it). I was heavily out geared and I could not gain initial aggro enough on the adds to separate them. Kept getting called out on it and how bad a tank I was. I just recommended whoever had threat to just separate them and I'll get on it when separated, but nope just kept them in the middle and kept wiping and getting trash talked. So time ran out instance over and never went back. I guess I could do it now, busy doing other things, someday maybe.

bad experience from tanking that occur to me the most is when i already use all VIT out of the healer demand and use the cooldown properly but the healer still find difficulties healing me even though my gear isn't bad either, though maybe that is just a bad healer that i encounter

You should consider yourself lucky if that was your worst tanking experience was such a nominal slight. If I left every group with ignorant or misinformed people, I'd spend more time eating penalties than clearing instances.

Are you inept with reading comprehension? Clearly he was dismayed the healer singled him out, the tank, instead of the DPS who were "slow" by his account.

Or, he was being a diva-princess and raging at something that sure doesn't seem like a big deal. It looks like it was a simple statement to me, yet he rage quit at the last boss because he couldn't handle it.

Did they call the OP horrible names? Were they shouting at him? Were they cussing at him? Were they using derogatory slurs? If the answer is no, and all the healer said was that generic comment, then I would say OP was being very dramatic by rage quitting.

Can I talk about the time the tank joined AK hard and guarded the entrance with all his might for 10 minutes, then left without saying a word after I started pulling and tanking without him? Is that still a tanking horror story?
Or the dummy who quit immediately after clearing Nunyunenc, leaving me to tank Neverreap?

As an actual tank, the only person who's ever trashed my tanking was a BLM who precast Fire 3 on Einhander before I even got in range for a tomahawk throw. Crying about threat gen when I haven't even used an ability yet? A+, would group again.

I've had these complaints of while tanking:
Not using enough CD's(This one was valid once, but with how well the healer was healing me, I got lazy)
Using my CD's poorly(Healer complaining I was hard to heal because my CDs kept dropping right before trash would hit me hard)
Not using my aoe aggro properly(because I'd only throw it out twice on high aoe groups before the next complaint)
Not using my aggro combo properly(cause I would split up the combo between targets in trash groups to keep the hate up on everything)
Dark Knights are impossible to heal(and then had the most flawless Brayflox run I have ever been on)
Being told I suck, when I claim its my 1st time tanking a dungeon/trial and I'm learning what everything in the place does
Told I suck because I 'let' a dps run around like chicken with their head cut off(he kept dying and the rest of us were good)
Told I suck because the healer felt they could never enter cleric stance while healing me(I will admit to being undergeared for a few of this complaint)
Told I suck because I don't mass pull(I do the relentless no rest one group at a time grind, only stopping at bosses and maybe to position the occasional patrol)

Only true bad experience I've had tanking is when I was just learning how to tank, I had a couple runs with friends before but I needed EXP so I did roulette, I was maybe level.. 18 GLA so. Yeah.
We all load in and before I can even do a single thing, the LNC takes off. I follow trying to pull stuff off him, asking if he could not pull please, I'm still learning.
His answer was a few... choice and uncalled for words.. and then he ran off to the boss room, pulling everything and dying. Respawned and did it again. At this point the rest of the party is like, horrified as well. We weren't able to kick him at first because he kept aggroing all the mobs, but eventually we were able to toss him out. Rest of the dungeon went hunky dory.

Reported him for harassment.
