I need to go uncheck all my likes and fix this. I'll have to go tell my FCmates too. Dunno if they saw that.

I didn't see this either.
At this point, you should just take the amount of likes and call it even.
The whole event is messed up anyways with people not following the rules and all lol.
Doesn't the whole concept of calling it a "vote" already indicate only one is going to count? Their options were that only the first one counts, only the last one counts, or that liking multiple entries invalidates all of them so you haven't voted on any. Hmmm... maybe they should have gone with that last option.

is it possible to unlike the other styles and only keep the one "like" for the hairstyle you want? I chose multiple hoping that SE would implement most of them but was not aware of the rules when it comes to liking the hairstyle you want to win.

I agree that this method of voting is quite bad. Having players post their preference might take a forum mod longer to tally... but at least it will be 110% more accurate and less confusion for those voting.
I personally think they should scrap the current voting and start again.. or just implement them all as an apology for stuffing it up.
As I stand looking out from my window, I reminisce about the old days and the many ups and downs of my adventures throughout Eorzea.
It is then that I know achievement.
Why do they need to apologize? There's a lot they could apologizes for surrounding this contest but players misunderstanding the voting process isn't one of them.I agree that this method of voting is quite bad. I just don't understand why people didn't read the rules carefully before voting. Even prior to the clarification (which, to me, was just repeating the same rules that were originally posted from the start) it seemed pretty clear how voting was going to work.
Every voter is entered into a drawing for the scarf. 140 voters will be randomly chosen to receive the scarf. Vote on a female and male hairstyle by pressing the "like" button on the image you most want to be the next in-game hairstyle. Your last "like" in each of the female and male categories is the only vote that actually counts towards determining the winning hairstyle.
That's it.. it was that simple, and it was all plainly spelled out from the start. We don't need a redo, we need people to read and comprehend instructions carefully before diving into contests like these with a fistful of assumptions. If I sound frustrated it's because I really dislike the hairstyles that appear to be in the lead, and will always wonder if they took the lead because people can't be bothered to read/ask questions/do a little research before voting on something important (both in-game and IRL).
People keep mentioning how they need to unlike everything to fix this.
The fix is simple. Unlike the entry you want to vote for. Like it again. Don't like anything else in the category afterwards.
A new thread doesn't need to be made, just do this 10 second fix.
The fact they changed the voting rules after voting began extremely bothers me. How many people would have changed their voting if they knew? There's not even a special notice that the rules changed!
why cant SE just make a mini site with actual polls?
using "likes" to vote is such a bad way to vote
