I've been in my fair share of bad (sometimes inexcusably bad) groups, but kicks that aren't related to disconnected players happen rarely in my experience.

Usually a person just ragequits. Lol

I like the idea of providing some bonus to tomestones or exp immediately after getting a commendation. Another way to help reduce conflict would be to setup some additional filters to duty finder, and reward participants based on the situation. A "Learning" option would be awesome to have for someone who has not yet completed that section of content, with a bonus to match the number of people who have not cleared it. During the run, those who have not cleared it can't be vote kicked, but people can freely leave without penalty. Perhaps after clearing content under the "Learning" option 10 times the "Farm" option is unlocked, putting you only in experienced groups, but without the bonus for new players.

Well i had an BRD yesterday evening that refused to use Minuette in Expert Roullete.
First Boss took us 8 min long and he was running arround like a retard and died.

    Obvious troll.

Not an obvious troll. Perhaps just a bard who doesn't like the fact that they've been turned into casters. Personally I don't like what they did although I will admit I have been getting used to the new mechanics and use them just about all the time now.

Nobody has to be 'shitty' to another player. That is a choice you make.
Abusing another player does not make them play better nor does it does it help them learn. It does make our community less pleasant and makes people less willing to interact with each other. Even if I'm not the target, witnessing somebody having a tantrum in an instance still spoils my experience of the game.

People who are so upset by bad players that they are unable to remain civil might try the following:
Only play with your friends (I assume you have some) or only play with FC members who come up to your standards.

Even better, stop thinking of the rest of us as NPCs whose sole purpose is to enable you to get what you want out of the game. Each PC you interact with has a person controlling them and that person has feelings, no matter how they play there is no excuse for abusive behaviour.

Well...nobody has to play bad either, unless someone has certain disabilities that don't let them play as well. It's a choice to learn or not learn your job and most people choose not to learn. Naturally this is incredibly frustrating and some people lose their heads quicker than others. It's a vicious circle.

When I ask them to "pls roll on the loot", they say no and continue to go on a long slew of vitriol that involved telling me to " go f**k myself" and that I should " go sit on a <insert image of a very large emoti-penis>".
Actually, this is a GREAT kind of bad attitude to run into. This kind of thing, you can report after the run and be pretty sure that the guy will get a warning or worse.

Much worse are the folks who take shots at the other party members without being explicitly profane, critical without being helpful. "With DPS like this, we're gonna be here a while." "You call yourself a tank? Git gud plz." "Another death. Why am I not surprised?" "Worst. Run. Ever." Folks like this make others in the run feel low and miserable, but since they're being dicks without actually swearing, it's a lot harder for a GM to make a call.

Which is why I suggested that players who cannot control their temper don't use DF and try to play with players who meet their standards instead.
It is completely unrealistic to expect DF to only place you with groups of people with a similar skill level to yours.

Let's be honest though, it's not usually a case of cannot control their temper, it's will not. I'm sure the majority of people who abuse others here don't do the same at their workplace or in a RL lesuire facility because in RL there are consequences. If there were consequences here, I doubt we'd see as much of it as we do.

Having read a bit more of the thread, I've noticed a disturbing trend among posters assuming that the stories presented in this thread are the NORMAL situation in Duty Finder. No. No. A thousand times NO. These are HORROR stories - this thread is a condensed sampling of the worst of the worst. I've encountered my share of bad apples, but they are RARE. When you go into duty finder, the vast, VAST majority of runs are completely silent, beyond, perhaps, a cordial greeting at the start and farewell at the finish. Duty Finder, by and large, ranges from neutral to pleasant. The majority of players just want to get it done, and understand that being an ass is not going to get it done quicker.

Reading the forums can lead you to believe that Duty Finder is a cesspool of negativity, but that's simply not true. The fact of the matter is, when a run goes well, or just goes uneventfully, how likely are you to post about it on the forums? Not very. If a run is spectacularly bad, that's when players come to the forums to vent. Always keep that in mind, particularly if you find yourself becoming fearful of Duty Finder because of the things you read.

Duty Finder is a good thing, and serves an admirable purpose in helping folks find players to party with. Players who came here from FFXI remember the horror of spending literally DAYS doing nothing but logging into the game and standing around in Jeuno for hours at a time trying to put together a party for some event they want to clear. This game? Players gripe on the forums when it takes more than a half hour to join a party.

Even when you factor in the occasional bad egg player, Duty Finder is awesome, and the concept of Duty Roulette was brilliant.

I don't know if it has been mentioned in the thread already, but there's a very common situation repeating in DF on Ravana and Bismarck HM, also on Steps: duty begins, immediate ready check or pull before we check if the new people know the fight or if anyone has any questions, wipe, massive quits after the wipe.

So people create a situation where there's a high chance of failure by people messing up mechanics that they may or may not know and then ragequit for the situation they created themselves. And I agree, this kind of attitude wasn't nearly as common before Heavensward. What is going on with the community?
