Seriously, after looking at the finalists I am shocked these three didn't make the cut. These are amazing hairstyles. I think my favorite, and my vote-getter, would have been Stiria's that I linked but it would have been tough. I really enjoy seeing varying lengths of hair done well, and this is done extremely well. It's sleek, (i am a sucker for straight hair...) and extremely sexy. 10/10 for all three of these though. I don't even play a female character but I really wish they added these into the game. I would make a female alt just so I could have Stiria's haircut on her ;--;

And honestly, the male submissions are awful. I am not a huge fan of many of the hairstyles in this game for males, but many of those are just horrendous. I don't necessarily think Shippuu's male hairstyle would look good on an Au'Ra, but it is literally 10x better than any of the submissions we could actually vote on.

Edit: Should have viewed all the pages....Kas-Katta, SummerBrooke and Ahk-Morn all have wonderful entries as well. Seriously...how did these not become finalists??

My guess, given the finalists both male and female, is that they wanted a 'cute' theme. Frankly, I could have done without the cavity-inducing levels of cuteness, but that's just me.

Male: Undercut w/ rat tail



Female: Curly hair top bun w/ dreads

I was kinda pleased at least one of the male hairsyles was similar to mine (first entry on page 2). Not so much now since its not the leading one right now orz.... Though I will say I would've definitely liked to see more variety in hair textures, but overall I'm not too bummed about what we have.

There are several that are mid-chest in length on the females. #6, #9, #11, #16, and #21 are examples. And I guarantee you the entry you're referring to wasn't disqualified because it was "too long", especially when its design allows it to be easily cropped several inches shorter if need be. They already made it clear through the contest notice that designs may need to be altered to work in-game, and at worst we're talking about a small trim off the back length on this particular hairstyle.

However, that wouldn't be necessary. For the record, this hairstyle:

I was pretty disappointed none of them were in the stream hairstyles we thought might have been the finalists originally, but Im fine with it now because I like all the chosen finalists

I absolutely adore the last two ;-; This is the kind of variety we needed ingame imo, more wavy/curly/messy/natural hair. I would've have definetely chosen either as my longtime hairstyle.

I honestly don't think background/no background had much to do with selection, unless the background had something that would have violated the terms otherwise (foul language, other copyrights, etc.). As someone pointed out there are finalists with backgrounds/screenshots. I doublechecked the rules on background use before entering and understood that in-game screenshots were fair game, so that's what I did. I thought seeing it in context would make it a little more interesting. *shrug*

I just wish we were going to get actual variety. I know they won't want anything so different that it doesn't match -- after all, they have a distinct style they need to build, otherwise the game would look sloppy -- but I'm disappointed that they seem to be going with things they could have just designed themselves. (Not to insult the finalists, a lot of work went into them too and by and large they are good, I'm just salty about the devteam's choices.)

Simpler/practical does not equate to bland or boring. There is a sad lack of down to earth hairstyles available. I was hoping for something that would be practical yet stylish, as many of the entries in this thread are. I think I see why #16 (f) is so popular but IMHO it's a bit too much.

I feel like entry selection also had to do with: "Can we successfully make this in-game?" I dunno.
