Do that in my data center and it'll never pop.
Had a fc mate that went to bed, 7 hours later hadn't popped yet.
QwQ {/fist} This is a bonding experience right hur.
I don't get vote kicked often, but that's not really what got to me. I, personally, don't like being swore at. I mean, swearing is okay, swearing at people is one of my personal irks.
I can handle most tanks throwing fits about dumb things 'cause if they're wrong, usually the rest of us will let them know. But as soon as they have a buddy running with them, that's when it gets out of control 'cause they have the majority to vote kick. So the 4th person in the party usually doesn't want to be involved in fear of being kicked as well. :\
Buddy tanks are best tanks. They fix everything. orz

I sincerely hope the staff community managers are having a look over this thread, as the amount of players with horrible experiences are just jawdropping to me. Being legitimately frightened of entering the duty finder at the risk of being met with trash-talk and harrassment is just wrong. Although there is an option to report such players, I worry if we should rather be focused on what could have been done to prevent such unneccessary incidents in the first place.
Add a quest about behavioural etiquette maybe?

While we're at the point in this thread to talk about some of our horror stories, here's a story that happened to me last night.
Jumped into an EX Roulette with a friend last night and got Fractal. We were both happy, as this dungeon tends to be the easiest of the two Expert runs.
The run didn't go perfect, not by a long shot, but we didn't manage to F anything up either. As we are running through the dungeon, I notice the Whm enjoys their holy spell a bit more than keeping their fellow party members a live. Several instances where I hit 1-2k, as the tank... and as I'm still on CDs to survive, so I'm on the edge of my seat hoping I don't fall over as a dead Lala. I mean, the Whm was quick enough to get me back up in a pinch but the close calls were just... too close for comfort in some cases.
So jumping to near the end of the dungeon, I notice the Whm just stopped doing anything. A good solid 10-15sec of nothing being cast or movement. I die to the Iron Giant and the Monk gets a face full of Sword as well. Those two deaths, I'm assuming jumped them out of cardiac arrest, pushed them to swift cast raise on me and run around with the remaining mobs as the last DPS kills the Iron Giant with 2% hp left. I ask what happened, so I know to stop moving or what not, and they proceed to chastize me for taking too much damage and to tank better. I mean, sure I could have put Hallowed Ground but, but never have I needed it for such a small pull. I let it go as DF ego and just snobbish people will be snobby. We got through the rest of the dungeon without to much of a hiccup... still clutched my butt cheeks during the last boss, but no one died fortunately.
End Story![]()
You think people read quest text?I sincerely hope the staff community managers are having a look over this thread, as the amount of players with horrible experiences are just jawdropping to me. The thing is, all the neutral to good runs only stick around for a little while. But that time when lack of communication or someone lashing out got at you and got you into an argument sticks in your head. And it can be so frustrating when you know that because of how the DF works the person that caused it is still out there and managing to make progress while dragging somebody else's good time through the mud. It's one of the nasty side effects of the DF, no matter how much good it does for us, that a player with a particularly sour attitude doesn't have to answer for that attitude in their community at large unless they want to do high end raiding (at which point you'll hear them complain that they can't find a group, because of course they can't.)
Honestly, i feel this thread is throwing it out or proportion. I very rarely see toxic attitudes in the DF. I can actually only think of twice ever, and it wasn't that bad. 1 time I left, 1 time I sucked it up.I sincerely hope the staff community managers are having a look over this thread, as the amount of players with horrible experiences are just jawdropping to me. IMO the larger problem is the lazy behavior in DF
To address both concerns, I think DF should have more 'options' similar to PF. I mean tick boxes that say "Skip Cutscenes", "Newbies welcome" etc etc. That way it will pair people up with similar mindsets. Alternatively, you could see the queue and decide to go with skipping cut-scenes and watch it later for the faster queue or you could watch them and have the longer queue. (as an example)
1 Bad run = omg DF is bad
Seriously, i tank and DPS every single day and never got any kind of problems. Just be always polite, if your dps/heal are bad or doesn't have good items for do their job just leave.
Oh, as a newbie i've noticed this aswell. Sometimes, you meet that kind of player, which seem to be more and more represented in the MMO community... Honestly i can only how relatable to WoW or even LoL this "fast food" behavior is.
They can't change the mindset of people. My only hope is that the game won't change in a way that promotes that kind of attitude.
The issue is that the game does support that kind of attitude through a combination of:
1. Having end-game equipment gated behind tomes that are most easily capped through 'roulettes'
2. Encouraging experienced players to play the same older dungeons over and over, creating a distaste for slow runs
3. Increasing the skill-gap between the good and the bad players
4. Preventing information readily available to properly address concerns
5. Providing no 'rewards' for proper behavior (i.e. killing trash, helping newbies etc.) The only reward is for completion; therefore, the faster completion the better.
6. Having Duty Finder group up with any random person, likely resulting in conflicting playstyles. Which then in turn results in frustration.
