That is why? For me, I don't tank because 9 times out of 10, the dps is just horrible. You don't get many tanks in duty finder because of this:
Expert roulette - "you are not pulling enough", "wear STR accessories"
Levelling roulette - "don't pull those enemies", "speed up", I want to kill them all", "I'll pull these enemies for you"
Main Scenario - "Don't you know the shortcuts?" "run past these mobs and click that button"
Time to complete expert roulette dungeon when queue as SMN, between 20 and 24 minutes.
Time to complete expert roulette dungeon when queue as SCH, between 25 and 35 minutes.
Time to complete expert roulette dungeon when queue as PLD, between 35 and 45 minutes.
It's actually faster for me to accept the DPS queues now :|
I have 2 reasons for not helping queues as a tank.
(1) I level up all tanks, then healers, and a ton of DPS are now left to play. With so many DPS classes, it's a long time before I get back to my tanks.
(2) Groups like last night, where the DPS refuse to kill mobs, they let them sit at 33%hp, and just pick new targets (which wasnt an issue in old dungeons, because i could just kill the mob, but now in HW it takes forever for me to solo that last bit of health as a STR tank.) I started to wonder why it was taking so long for mobs to die, and why DPS werent pushing me to ever use threat combos.
Then I noticed the DPS was purposely switching a different target from w/e I was fighting.
DUnno why they were trolling so bad, but to test the water, I'd engage a different enemy than my initial pull enemy, just to see if they would purposely attack the wrong mob, and sure enough they would, and once they realized I was doingt his, they would switch again.
I even said "lol" after catching them in the act, and they responded with "What did I do?"
I never said their name, nor anything else the whole run. They knew they were caught, and had a guilty conscious.
They couldnt kill adds, and they kept getting hit by AoEs, and at the end of the run, complained that the healer ran out of MP, and didnt heal them, despite they didnt use ballad, nor would they friggin kill the enemies, so the healer didnt have to spam heals with 4+ mobs beating on me.
And this is just the worst group I've had in 3 days, I get this sort of bull sh*t from people all the time.
THIS is why I dont play tanks.
I'm tired of cleaning up after other peoples mess/laziness, while they pretend its always the tank/healers who are at fault.
Somehow, most of my LS/FCs never seem to run into these groups constantly, but part of me just thinks they just aren't being observant enough.

Everyone cries about the tank shortage, and here I am running Expert dungeons with a party of DRK/PLD/WAR/AST.
Funny enough, despite having all 3 tanks 60, I was actually the AST.
It's rather amusing, to be honest. All these people cry about not having tanks, and especially good tanks in the DF. Why would we ever want to run in the DF, when most of us who tank make friends with those around us? I mean, I've got Linkshells, and friend lists full of other players who are more than happy to hop on my tank queue, or even tank FOR me if I'm on a DPS or Healer. Why on Eorzea would I ever, EVER, willingly choose the morons that are in the cesspool of fail that is the DF? Honestly, people. Your average DF denizen is so horrible at the game, so terrible at making friends, that we had to nerf Steps of Faith, just so they weren't stuck in ARR content when the expansion hit. There are players so bad, they hit enrage timers on content the rest of us never realized even had an enrage timer. There are players right now, who can't even play the game well enough to pass Faust in A1 Normal. They literally lack the competency to hit a training dummy.
And don't even get me started on the verbal garbage that spews from them. Even a Morbol would ask some of them to clean their mouths with the filth that comes out of it. These completely useless party members, who have to be carried by the actual decent players, unleash the most foul tirades when someone doesn't carry them to the utmost satisfaction of the terribad. Doesn't matter that you're doing three times their DPS. Doesn't matter that the healer ran out of MP spamming resses like they were candy. It doesn't matter that you're trying your hardest just to make sure this one Trial succeeds, so you can finally get the gear piece you've been after, while Fails McDerp and his 3 friends have fallen off ages ago. They'll still treat you like scum, because how dare you not make this go faster than is humanly possible.
And yet people have the nerve, the sheer gall, to get upset about tanks that don't DF, like WE are somehow the problem. Players who haven't rolled a tank in their lives, acting like I owe them, because I rolled a tank for my own enjoyment. There's only one thing I owe players like that, but saying it would get me a forum ban, so I'll leave it to the imagination.
You want tanks in the DF, you find a way to make sure that kind of player uninstalls. Because until then, no self respecting tank will use the DF unless they literally have no other options.
If you main tank, why the hell you want to play tank in dungeons? Go dps alt and enjoy the ride.
If you main dps, why the hell you want to play on your alt tank in dungeons? Play your main and enjoy the ride.
The first reply of the thread is the best post in this thread so far.
I've had enough runs via Duty Finder as a tank to know for fact that very demanding people are out there, and don't care if you're new or not. I find this is made worse by the fact that people behave this way even if the said content that's being done only just came out on that very day. A few too many people I've run with via Duty Finder have the mentality of "Do it my way or GTFO."... made even worse, IMO, if it's the healer who's doing that. I continue to sign up as a Tank anyway into Duty Finder, mainly because we're already at an all time low of people willing to put up with tanking for a PUG. But the demand for Tanks is still going so strong that I've now already got all 3 tank roles up to 60 and only sign up for Expert every now and then as a Tank.
With the attitudes I've seen from my random runs, and the examples given by other posts in this thread, I've got to say, I can't blame our Tank player population for avoiding DF like the plague. Because it really can be, especially for a Tank player.
Funny thing is, I don't mind people who are just "bad" at the game, and are trying to get better.
It's just that 90% of the DF players really dont care, or just simply refuse to work with the group.
I will run content a million times for someone, and help guide them through it, until they clear it, and by their own merit, not just being carried.
But the moment they refuse to do the content, because "git gud" is the only response they have to "Here are the instructions, and now follow them", I see no reason to run with them.

To OP you are a tank.. Why do you have an issue with tanks. Also please level your GLD and PUG jobs. for cross class abilities before you have issue I can't do tank swap.
I also rarely do a DF to look for the majority of party members. I pretty much only run with LS or FC members.
I will admit though... I do put on my angry hat when I do PuG up three other members because I know I'm gonna have to put somebody in line. Which I hate having to do.
I actually like tanking/healing the DF and the roulette's, I enjoy the low lvl and lvling roulette's I like meeting new players and teaching them how the dungeons and bosses work and I like bad players, it makes me try harder and makes my job more fun and I rarely run into mouthy ones, I have only met est 5 mouthy ppl (aka ones who yell at me for not doing what they want or when I HAVE to comment on their playing style (spamming cure 3 on me and only me in AV, stuff like that)) I don't like to ask ppl to not do things because you can play the game how you wish but some times...I just have to ^^;
