My design was shown off in the livestream (male no.13) and made it into the contest. There may have been others but I simply didn't bother to check.
Oh. Wait, what? That's ludicrous. But I now know for the future.
I'm confused which hairstyles "broke the rules" if you are talking about the hairdo that is similar to Quistis from 8. The design while similar is not the same to her hair. Her hair is pinned up in the back with a clip, on the submitted design it's in a short gravity-defying ponytail. Also, Quistis's hair parts to the right while that one parts in the middle. That design style isn't even something new I've seen similar designs used on various characters.
I'm more just disappointed that most of the female hairstyles are either, ponytails, side-ponytails, braids, some form of pigtails.
The only one I voted for was #18 cause we don't really have curly hair and that's the closest they had & was the most unique compared to what we have atm.
But sadly it won't be added so looks like I'm stuck with constantly changing my hair cause nothing truly fits with the look I want![]()
Savvy: It is one thing to voice your opposing opinion. It is another to make egregious assumptions and to generalize. Yes, I understand my opinion isn't "good". Yes, I understand that it is going against something that the dev team thought to do for us. And yes, I understand that if I get a gift from someone, don't be a dick and demand something else. That isn't what I am doing at all.
I pay for FFXIV. For a service. FFXIV prides itself on being a quality game, with awesome things like contests and give aways. It isn't a gift. Being community driven, the game strives on feedback and comments from people like you and like me. It wants the good and the bad. What if it only got the good from those who legitimately felt good about things, but the ones who were dissatisfied didn't speak up? It would be assumed that everything was peachy and nothing would change. You'd start seeing the player base dwindle. People would leave. FFXIV would lose money.
I understand you do not agree with my purpose. I respect that. Please don't scold me about my behavior. I want this thread to be productive and insightful for everyone; there is no need to shame.
Oh are we seriously arguing now people would leave the game because of a hairstyle contest? And please, don't start with this whole "i pay for the game" nonsense That works in certain cases but absolutely not here. This was just a silly competition and the fact that people are so in arms about it will mean this won't ever happen again.I pay for FFXIV. For a service. This thread. Really. So ridiculous. Maybe they won't have a fun contest like this again. So ungrateful.
Clearly, my intention of this thread was lost.
To wrap up, No. I am not saying people would leave over a "silly competition". I am saying that when I, me, myself, ONE person in the millions of subscribers finds something bad about something, chances are, there are more people who feel the same out there. I am not a unique and special snow flake. If there are more like me, then there are "bad" things that need talking about. If no one talks about the bad things (even the "bad" being how a "silly" thing didn't go as stated), then nothing gets discussed in a polite civil manner. Then nothing changes, people will eventually leave. It's not about this contest anymore, I feel. This is about the vocal majority forcing it's opinions down someone elses throat because it isn't "nice" or "theirs". I made a thread, trying to find other people in the same boat, and what I mostly found were people judging me for the way I felt like communicating.
I can understand why people are upset over the hair styles that were picked to vote on- it is kind of confusing how it ended up per the rules anyway, that and the live letter posts- was it specified somewhere that the live letter hairstyles were finalists/runners up?
All ideas are subjective- just because it is one person's cup of tea, doesn't mean it will be the same for someone else. That being said, congratulations to those that did make the final voting - I hope that the FFXIV team continues to hold contests like these, I'd very much like to try again some day![]()
