Let me give you guys something to think about. (Example numbers these aren't real just using them for my point) MNK 1250 Drg 1200 . Now let's add in utility. Drg 1300 Mnk 1250. Monk is in no way more overall damage then Dragoon. Get out of here with that garbage.
This is originally why i started the thread in the first place, everyone completely ignores monks' defensive utilities completely when making comparisons, when they do actually exist and are actually good.
#lolDrg *cue applause/streamers/fireworksMeh they only issue I have with my DRG is that everytime I pop up in a random group ppl are like oh god a DRG just because there are soooo many awful ones and then maybe the fact that I press a bazillion buttons to keep my DPS at the top and you have room for dots like phlebotomize or even fracture trust me you have more then enough skill speed to finish a combo set before you need to recharge the dreadful heavy thrust...
As a MCH/BRD, I'd have to add in that DRGs are more desirable than a monk if it came to choosing between the two, if only because you have to have a BRD/MCH in a typical party setup for progression. In which case, discussions should be more on MNK versus NIN than anything...
What they need to do is downplay DRG's utility a bit, it's just way too much in the current meta of party composition. Giving BRD/MCH a means of piercing debuff to maintain so that having a DRG is a "bonus" (much like having a ninja omit dancing edge if there's a warrior, the BRD/MCH can skip out on their piercing debuff skill) for their dps rather than absolutely mandatory for them to do their full extent.
A monk getting some offensive party synergy would help; they only thing they realistically bring is mantra (which is helpful to some degree for phase transitions to boost aldo) and Dragon Kick, which would allow a dork knight to use more soul eaters for mitigation

in my opinion there is an easy way to make monk utility equal to dragoon . by making machinist attacks do blunt damage instead of piercing
Why would bullets (which travel at a much higher velocity than arrows) be blunt?
Bullets don't bludgeon you, they perforate you.
Yes they are, but let's be real, you started this thread because Dragoon was no longer highest dps individually. The thing is the monk defensive utility isn't as good as it used to be and it doesn't really add raid dps. So it deserves to be top individual dps. I play both classes so it doesn't really matter to me, I'll play whichever is best for the group, atm that is drg, hands down.
DRG has top raid DPS input due to piercing debuff, Battle Litany, and great cleaving ability(very relevant in A3S) with Geirskogul. NINs are close due to Trick Attack and Goad, but do not do as much damage as a DRG.
MNK - Top individual DPS with no relevant utility since DRK
DRG - 2nd individual DPS with extremely relevant DPS utility
NIN - 3rd individual DPS with best utility, DPS(Trick) and raid(Smoke/Silhouette/Goad)
The balance is fine as it is.
No, please don't assume what other's intentions are.Yes they are, but let's be real, you started this thread because Dragoon was no longer highest dps individually. The thing is the monk defensive utility isn't as good as it used to be and it doesn't really add raid dps. So it deserves to be top individual dps. @jonnycbadd it does make sense, since bullets in the musket days were iron balls.
DRG's OP, TBH. One of only 2 jobs there is no room for discussion on if you bring them to raid (WAR and DRG).
