Well, to be fair, Square's already worked with Maaya Sakamoto before. She does the voices of Aerith (in Kingdom Hearts and Advent Children), Diva (Type-0) and Lightning![]()

Clearly, the best Final Fantasy character is Locke Cole.
Glamour is TRUE ENDGAME
Please someone just redo the Alexander music. Please. Or make future raid music less annoying. I am always listening to my MP3 library instead or Spotify.
Am I the only who one who just likes it more traditional FF music style? less rock less hard techno and more focus on actually sounding RPGish if you know what i mean?
I could be wrong too maybe its meant to be like this I dont know.

I've come to accept the blending of music genres where it comes to the Final Fantasy series. The music is never bad, but it is different. Back when I heard X's "Otherworld" the first time-- this was when Uematsu was experimenting with rock sound in his compositions (not to mention forming the "Black Mages")-- I didn't know what to think about it at all, to the point of disliking it. Fast forward to now? You have things like the Alexander songs and Under the Weight the latter being probably one of my favorite tracks of XIV) and they just *work* for me. Might be because I've matured a little but it is what it is.
Sakimoto's good, and might fit the "judge" like appearances of the Garleans, but I do find his instrumentation much too same-y after a while that I can guess within five seconds if it's him or not.
id like to have the ability to have an alternative say you were in titan and the music was too much you could switch to an alternative or a few alternatives id also like a jukebox where you can choose from previous final fantasies
i know and understand what you're saying, i also would prefer some old-school music, but as someone has already said it, that would disrupt the cohesion of FFXIVs musical direction.
as with FFXI & FFXIV, other games are born with a certain musical direction that they keep until the end.
and even with other composers that have worked on FFXIVs music like naoshi mizuta (the guy who is practically making almost all of FFXIs tracks) the musical direction is still the same.
sure, they leave their own notes that might remember you on songs from other games (naoshi for example made the Grand company track maelstorm command, and while they sound different from FFXI they sure have a few moments that sound like remastered FFXI music haha)
overall, the FFXIV ost is good, it's not my favorite, especially the reuse of some tracks and the open world battle tracks.
and i'd rather have them stick to music that focuses more on instruments than voice, like the titan or alexander song, but that is all up to the individuals taste in music.
my favorite tracks btw are white raven (that track really rocked in 1.0 with nael van darnus) and my most recent favorite from HW is the open field track of dravanian forelands.

BlackRose: thats kinda sad. Sorry for the delays. Ive been on a mini tour working. I wished it was more traditional. I just feel like if im playing an mmorpg that has magic dragons swords and shields the music should be more like that and not technoish rock tunes.
