If I'm currently switched to white mage I toss out heals to anyone who I think needs it. Like when I do fates or hunt marks I heal anyone who is low on health even when not in my party.

Its better to let people learn themselves.

If I see someone in trouble out in the field I stop to help, every time. Especially people with the new player symbol on their tag.
If I'm on one of my classes that has healing /rez then that's what I do. Even if they are in a solo duty, you can still heal them until they manage to kill whatever it is they have to complete.
In dungeons if I see mobs aggro on the healer or casters then I ttry to get the thing off them since their more valuable to the group than I am imho.
It depends. I used to join random party finder groups all the time if there there was learning group or someone looking substitute on fights that I enjoy just to help out. I was in on 6 different groups first T13 clear and countless others as they first started progressing.
I don't really do much in the open world any more, but while leveling 50-60, if someone looked like they were in trouble and pulled to many to handle I would lend a hand.
Questing is like participating in an Old Spice Commercial - Talk to me, talk to him, talk to me, talk to him, Now Talk To Me...Sadly, you are not done, back to him, look there, its that mob I never liked, back to me, back to him...I'm in the Waking Sands.
I'll help if I want to. Won't if I don't.

I like to help now and than. I will toss out some heals or raise. Other time answer questions when asked. But, normally I keep to myself. I'm a little shy.(#^.^#)

It's a game, and a community. I try to help people whenever I can, even if it doesn't benefit me. I've seen the "you scratch my back and I scratch yours" mentality in groups of people on other servers, and it never ends well. When that mentality is all you operate off of, I think it zaps the fun from the game.
Besides, I have loads of fun getting to know new players and talking to them. Endgame content is fun as well, but it's just as much fun to run through content with people that are brand new and don't know the mechanics. In my experience, they're typically nicer and seem to notice seniority, so they won't argue when you give them advice.
Typically.
WinterMaintenance is coming

Sometimes when people do fate boss at gorgimera, I change to SCH to help the people who leveling (And I collect people to resurrect for achievement too lol)

I generally prefer the "I help you, you help someone else, hopefully, with luck and the good faith and feelings generated by our actions, it'll get back to me. If not, Meh."It's a game, and a community. I try to help people whenever I can, even if it doesn't benefit me. Also, trying to help someone and running into "This enemy is part of another players duty."

Are you asking if I ever intentionally choose not to save someone with a cure, so I can raise them and get progress on the Good Samaritan title instead?
... why no, that would never happen, I just didn't notice you were injured, that's all. Darn my slow reaction times.
Alright, fine, I'm a vulture.
