    arrow Variaty

so, one thing i remember from the FFxiv website before release was arrow variaty

currently we have our standard non magical arrow, this come in 2 flavors, 100% projectile damage and 70% projectile dmg 30% slashing dmg. we also have 1 magic arrow with 70% projectile, 30% water.

i was wondering if anyone out there or a devrep can tell me(and us if im not the only one interested in this) are there more arrows coming soon?? if there are water dmg arrows now, where are the fire, lightning, wind, ice earth, umbral and astral arrow?? are they coming? also enfeebling arrows such as poison arrows, maddening arrows, and such (using alchemy poisons). and of course this arrow enfeebling would be less efficient than DoM enfeebles but would be good to have.

knowing this arrow will be in game would be helpful for archer stat distribution because landing an enfeeble most likely depends on piety. so if an archer wnats to be a debuff archer he stacks on piety or the archer wants to be pure dmg he stacks STR (DEX been the primary stats to stack on both)

    any thoughts?

Those were bolts in 11, I remember using them often on my thf.

As for the main topic I'm all for it, currently our best arrow choice is warped for grinding/farming, and silver for everything else. I've tried pretty much every arrow as have most the archers in my ls, and it seems 100% projectile gives the highest damage time after time.

Poison.....maybe........want sleep, level a Conj to 32.....want HP drain, level a THM..........I am fairly certain you would take issue if conjurers had the heals and buffs, and suddenly got to do the magnificent ranged damage Archers can.

I'm curious, did you play FFXI, Coglin? The arrows they are most likely referencing were fairly weak arrows that could only be relied upon in circumstances where the monsters you were fighting were weak themselves. Sleep arrows had a very short duration, terrible damage, and the HP drain healed for something like 10-20 hp out of an average of 1,000 hp. Aside from the defense weakening bolts, most of the arrows were for solo purposes.

I don't see why they couldn't implement them into FFXIV. They would of course have to change it so people can change gear while in combat, at least to the degree of ammunition. Conjurer doesn't need to be the only class that naturally learns a means of putting something to sleep, but they should be the most reliable.

    PS
There should be a magic class that has the "magnificent" ranged damage as Archer, its just ridiculous the way it is now.

It's already here. It's called Thaumaturge. Try it out.

exactly Belial, thats my point exactly.

With the armoury system in which you can use almost any pell on any class, all this talk of XI and trying to make XI-II out of ths game just makes me want to throw up in my mouth.

Perhaps if they allowed the reload button to open a window to select what arrow to reload to it could work well, then you could swap out your arrows from poison to damage etc.

Given that in the opening CGI the 'main character' guy gets a fire arrow effect from the Lalafell conjurer, I think something may be in the works though it may be for a job rather than a class, as putting too much appeal on a base class would only draw people away from using the archers resultant job, and if it works the same way as the CGI, you'd need a conjurer or other type of caster around to cast an element on your arrow.

Using alchemy to apply poisons and stuff to your arrows would be a great idea though, I was thinking a similar thing with the thief to apply to daggers. Perhaps making gun-powder to apply to arrow to make explosive arrows with an AoE blast?

Now if your using some type of cross class spell from say thm or con on the arrow to cause the spell effect in the shot. then I am all for that.....As you stated, even alchemy I guess does make some sense as well.
