I have 8 crafts at 50. All I did was watch T.V. and spam standard for easy mode synths. Enjoy leveling those crafts in 1.19 and beyond everyone!
I agree with PennywisE and Kurai. The servers being down does not have any impact whatsoever on the rate at which SE can produce new content for the game.
I don't know why so many people keep thinking things would go faster if the servers were taken down. They wouldn't go faster at all. They would still go at the same rate they're going at now. We just wouldn't be able to see it.

I agree for the most part. You do make a good point.SE should get what they have never had since the release of this game... Time! People complain about what this game is lacking, what it needs to improve, what needs fixed, and what needs added. Well I do not think SE will gain any fans by pushing to re-open the servers in a week. Keep them down for a month or more, whatever is needed to get this game on track. They need to take the time right now to help themselves and their families before they get back to work. However when they do decide to go back to work the priority should not be opening the servers asap. No I think they should fix everything while we, the players, are taking a break. No matter if they re-open the server in 1 week or 1 month there will be the same number of people that will leave the game and not come back, and the same number of people sitting on the edge of their seats waiting for the game to come back. I say if you are going to bring it back then bring it back with the changes we are looking for. This game has been rushed from day one. That is the problem. This earthquake / tsunami is a horrible tragedy. But of all things bad can come something good. I say put us Final Fantasy fans in suspense waiting for the re-release of Final Fantasy XIV the way it was meant to be played. A complete game we can all be proud of and something we can make fun of other MMO players who haven’t spent the last 6 or more months getting their Eorozean character to physical level 50.
For those of you who are impatient and want the game back now I ask you this. Would you rather play the game again tomorrow and wait 6 months to a year for them to implement all the updates they want, or can you wait a little while and play something else and get this game back better than ever? Tell me your thoughts.
Also very true. The game should have been delayed. I think everyone agrees it came out broken and quite 'crap' in comparison to the hype.Sadly you have a great point but I think because it is a temporary thing it's not going to change their scheduling priorities at all. Tanaka should have just called off a 2010 launch back in alpha. I'm happy with the outcome though, I feel like I'm playing beta but I get to keep my character. It's a good escape even if the game is a lot more incomplete than I ever realized.
I would personally prefer it just stay down for a month or so. If they can work on a lot of updates, and get them done.. I would love to have a product/game that is a little more complete. Anything to get it nearer to 100% 'sooner'
Well I do not know as much about the creation of this game as some of you, and I have never heard of this working demo in 2005. This is what I do know, when the beta/alpha, whatever you want to call it came out players told the creators to wait unit there was more content before they released the game. They did not do this. I also know that the developers now are getting 4 hours at best twice a month to add content. I honestly believe that that is not enough. I am sorry so many of you didn’t like my post but rather than complaining about how bad this game is I would rather them spend time fixing it, instead of making sure we get our gladiator from lvl 30 to lvl 40. I want a complete game. If you read these forums they are littered with great ideas. Barber shops, map notes, new races, and company system ideas. I like this stuff and it makes me sad that the best response people have is "good post but SE has bigger things to worry about." I disagree, this is the content we need and I would rather not wait till 2012 to get it.

Content is great and all but they need to get the mechanics of the game dealt with more.. One being combat. It's ok but needs work. Some of the chat channels like /tell needs some work. Get the mechanics working better mainly and yes tiny bits here and there of content.Well I do not know as much about the creation of this game as some of you, and I have never heard of this working demo in 2005. Once the mechanics are taken care of and more fluid then hammer out content. It might suck for you to not get what you want. They should bring the servers up when they can and continue doing what they can to get things designed, adjusted, etc and out. love it or leave it.
I would rather keep playing now than wait 6 months. No one is forcing anyone to play, if you wanna take a 6 month leave thats up to you but i know me and my LS want to keep playing. Of course I do support SE taking all the time they need getting the servers back up with respect to the crisis in Japan rite now.
You should never ride on the success of one game to sell another. Sadly, that seems to have happened to FFXIV. It would seem as though whoever was in charged relied on the synergy from FFXIII to sell FFXIV and for the most part , it would seem like it succeeded in some small ways. But it left the MMO in a difficult position. With the new heads in charge and the direction the game is going, I have faith that we'll have the game we've been waiting for someday. As someone who was ranting and raving at launch and quit shortly afterward, I'm having fun again. I'm looking forward to what this game brings. It just better bring some damn greatswords.
Well, dispite what is currently going on in japan. I belive the severs may come back up with the first few patches to the battle system.
Tokyo is largely uneffected except for schedualed power cuts designed to allow buisness's to continue day to day trade. So, ASIDE from personal/family issues with the Devs and the general SE staff (praying they're all ok). They techincally have 1~4+ weeks to work on the current patches and some of the future game "theory" they have to go through before even sitting down to code anything. (Main Story direction, quests with CS, Ishgaurd, Chocobos, airships, the "jump" feature, black shroud redesign, area collision algorythms, ability redistruibtion/final battle system adjustments, there is lots and lots to do...)
I hope this is a blessing in-disguise for the future of 14. As a company they should be aiming to use this down time to their advantage.
NOT TRYING TO TAKE AWAY FROM THE TERRIBLE STATE OF THEIR COUNTY... but... SE has a temporary breather as far as ff14 developement is concernd. Good luck to them.
(This is after all one aspect -albeit a mid/longer term one- to helping rebuilding japans bruised ecnomomy. No?)
kam ^^
