Most of the players are in a FC yes, but few actually get to tinker with the workshop and airships.

Players, please stop opting out of half the content SE makes for you

The basis of the original post is sound, but given to current information, we now know it is totally bogus.
SE has confirmed that there will be a added feature at the Ishgard airship landing so solo players can battle and gather the Sea of Clouds after it goes live.
Caught that on a MrHappy analysis for one of the recent live letters.

Not to split hairs here, but the notice clearly states that the Ishgard airship will be available for people not in a FC. No where does it state that it will be available to people who are in an FC, but don't have a house/workshop. So, which is it or is it both? Sometimes the translations can be a bit vague.
I have no prayer for that...
it's nearly impossible for them to develop content that locks you out just by having an FC, it doesn't say that because it doesn't have to.Not to split hairs here, but the notice clearly states that the Ishgard airship will be available for people not in a FC. Few people are interested in crafting in the first place.
Even if a person was interested in crafting, the airship interface and FC workshop project interface are not incredibly interactive. (It's on a similar level to retainer ventures.)
They aren't missing out on much; believe me.

FC crafting literally amounts to an activity akin to putting quarters in a coke machine with 3 other people watching you. The whole airship exploration thing will be available to everyone. I don't really see the issue.

You're saying "most people" aren't in a Free Company? Oooooookay.....
