    Samurai

So I think after today in the Rising, I had tons of fun! I also saw Samurai stuff mentioned, I want to talk about it.. If Samurai will be brought should it be tank or dps? Should it be an instant job like AST, DRK, and MCH. Should it get a new class along with Red Mage and start as a fencer or something and choose the path of magic (Red mage) or elegance of the sword (Samurai) as Samurais in history technically cannot use magic..

I think it's been unofficially confirmed that Samurai will be a DPS class when (if) they bring it to FFXIV.

Yoshi talked about Samurai when Heavensward came out. It was on the table to be one of the new classes coming with 3.0, but he said that he personally feels it should be a DPS, rather than a tank (and that's why they chose DRK as the new tank class in Heavensward), along with the fact that he didn't want to release two japanese themed jobs so close to one another (as Ninja was so recent).

I think it's fair to say we can expect Samurai to be a DPS class, probably sharing Chain with a Dragoon I'd guess, and I guess we'll see it in whichever expansion has us exploring the Doman lands as they're going to be very japanese themed.

I'm also going to go heavily with DPS. Wouldn't be surprised if we didn't get a tank in 4.0, and instead got Samurai as a DPS and Dancer as a healer.

I did not see hints for Samurais... Did I miss something? I only saw Red Mage and Blue Mage hints, minions and some equips/glamour/furnitures.

The samurai coding has been in ff14 for quite some time now so no surprise here.

Think about it and you will realize you don't really want blue mage to come to XIV. They will butcher it even more so than they will red mage.

Remember the interesting thing about blue mage was the ability to select from a wide array of abilities depending on the group? Noep you will have the same # of abilities as every other class because they consider raw ability # to = something essential to class balance

Remember the drive to collect all the monster abilities and get cool new ones? Well I hope you like that to be done by a NPC telling you every 5 levels about a powerful beast threatening X that you must stop and after you return from your victory over the fearsome monster said NPC remarking something like "Oh and I see you acquired new skills while fighting the beast!"

Really.... RDM and BLU will be so disappointing with how they limit the classes in XIV... RDM will lost most of its kit and BLU will have none of the things that made it unique.

They are always gonna error on the side of caution with new jobs and make them slightly less powerful than the main jobs.

It's much easier to buff one job then to buff all the other jobs. Nerfing is also a good way to upset your player base.
