Want to have my character drawn up cartoon-like

I see some pretty cool signatures under some thread replies involving their main character and job drawn up in some wicked awesome unique poses with quotes, phrases, etc. Can anyone suggest an artist I can get in touch with to draw my character up? Or point me in the right direction? Thanks you!

Don't get me wrong, both of those are great, but 100.00 seems a bit too much :/ I've seen artists on DA with a higher skill and charge a lot less. More so around the ~20-40.00 for full body and detailed backround, sometimes less

It also depends on the style you want.

http://kazenokaze.deviantart.com if you want more of an anime style, though his prices have doubled in the last few months.

http://villyane.deviantart.com again, if you want anime style, this one is far cheaper.

http://lunalli-chan.deviantart.com or if you want this sort of style. She's a good friend of mine, so I can vouch for her getting the work done and has reasonable prices.

    >_> And just because I have to and I'm already posting links http://obysuca.deviantart.com lol Though, I'm sure you wouldn't want this low of a skill~

    Got some links of them?
Well, the average price I've seen is around $15-$30. Only times I've seen them jump up to 100+ is if multiple characters.

I'm an artist and $100 is not "too much", it should be the bare minimum for a full body colored skilled artwork. I've charged 150+ for my art (simple background but more than one character in the composition, with each additional character increasing the total cost, one of my commissions went up to $250 and the client never objected and even said it was very reasonable) and even then I'm aware it's low compared to what more well known professional artists charge. You've seen artists with a higher skill than the ones Jacien just posted charging less? Which by the way, are REALLY freaking good so $100 is not out of the question. If they charge less it doesn't mean EVERY other artist should charge less, too. There could be maaany reasons that makes the price vary from artist to artist (coloring style, realistic, semi-realistic or complete anime style which is easier) By the way, those artists are indeed selling themselves very, very short.

Wanted to add, professional artists do this for a living which is why they charge for what the art is really worth. Hobbyist artists or even student artists who are unaware of the full picture are the ones who charge less.. as it's only pocket money for them, nothing too serious. Well known professional artists are not even going to charge $100, they will charge $150 to $300 for the bare minimum, heh not even kidding. So $100 is perfectly reasonable.

Artists are free to charge whatever they'd like for their hours. It's just up to the consumer if they want to pay x amount for y product. If you feel the artist's work/style/etc is worth 100$, then you pay 100$. If you don't, you go elsewhere. Some people are under-confident in their art and charge low prices, some are over-confident and charge high prices. Ideally you start as high as possible and lower your price until enough people are willing to pay it. Commissions are a very tiresome job, so it's unfortunate when people lowball their prices despite all the work it takes.

True, which is why I was saying $100 is a lot compared to what I've seen. You also have to take into account that on an art site, theres going to be a horde of people trying to sell theirs, so it'll be harder to sell for a high price, so most price theirs lower. Also, DA is filled with lots of kids 13-17, which the lower prices also appeal to them, since 100.00 is a lot if you don't have an income.

In person though? Yeah, 100.00 is easier to get for art compared to online where everyone and their mother can throw something together and ask for money.

The trick is to offer variable price ranges depending on the complexity of the work. A decent artist can crank out a $20 B&W portrait of someone's character in an hour, depending on your style and any additional anatomical complexity (horns, etc.). Offer full body ones for $80-100 in addition to that, and you're pretty golden.
