Result:
Missing doesnt increase SB. So you can SB with the gathering chest equiped, or take the 20%~ extra miss chance. As far as net gain goes it shouldnt matter much. It might be less annoying to miss less, tho.

Spiritbind in dungeons, or fight Sphinx in Azys La, near the Lab entrance, they also sb gears.

There is no minimum requirement for favors. I would still use GP accessories tho (with the usual + gathering, etc), as accessories have a poor drop chance on high grade materias anyway.

Note that this rate of IV's only applies to moghome leftside, other HW crafting equipment has very poor rates for IV's for some reason.

I actually regularly SB the holy cedar / rainbow cloth crafting gear, and I've gotten about a 50% rate on grade 4s, 50% rate on grade 3s with those items.
