Well you quit cause of lazy which makes you indeed also a bad tank... you know what? Without the discussion about what players do you would have finished it for sure a while before you decide to leave.
TANK Job: Keep aggro as long as needed
Healer Job: Keep everyone alive as long as needed
DPS Job: Kill as fast as possible
If one and two are ok there is no need to flame the 3rd. Even if it is not nice to be "lazy".
For example on my NIN: I do not use my Dots on trash (except Doton while there are more then 3 monsters). Why? Cause my 3rd combo makes more DMG as every lose of GC could catch. Should I now argument with a tank like you WHY I do not use them? Pff.
Get over it and as long as the dungeon can be completed in less then 40 Min everything is fine... see it as difficult: hard.
I hold my party to a higher standard than simply "Did they wipe us?" My expectations in a party are that players should know their job fundamentals and be able to handle mechanics. If mechanics are a problem, that's one thing, we can talk about that and work out what needs to be done. It's your own responsibility to know your role and be able to perform when you take it out to play.Generally I do not think it is our place to judge how others play, at least not as long as things go fine. If that's not the case you may start giving advice (!), not before. Who cares if you agree on how Fred Anonymous uses his CDs as long as that doesn't wipe you? I certainly do not, and I don't want others to judge my play style just as well. There is no definite right or wrong to these things, as much as some want everyone to play by the doctrine of class guides.
For example:
You and Phil need to make 20 sandwiches by the end of the day. You make a dozen, Phil only makes six. Phil has made sandwiches before, but never this kind, so he's not sure how to handle the mechanics. You show him how, he gets better, and bangs out two more sandwiches by the end of the day. Great, duty complete.
In another example, you and Phil need to make 20 sandwiches by the end of the day. You make a dozen, Phil makes... three. You ask Phil, "What gives?" He tells you he's not feeling it, he might work harder if the boss shows up but expects you to make the last five sandwiches. Then he tells you about the sweet bonus he got last week for outstanding performance, and links it in the chat box just to show off. Is Phil performing admirably right now? No, he's being a significant detriment to your efforts.
Complacently accepting laziness because eventually, it will get done, is going to be putting additional strain on someone else in your party, whether a lazy tank affects the healer, or lazy DPS affects the other DPS. My expectation is that everyone should handle the weight of their role equally, and when someone disregards that with blatant, unapologetic laziness, I'm not going to shrug, hike up my pants, and carry them up the mountain. No, if they want to get paid, they need to put in some work. I'm not asking for a raid quality workout, just have a modicum of respect for your fellow members and actually pick up your own slack instead of expecting others to.
Yeah as long as the Sandwhich Boss is not killing you read the following:
1) It is a game were everyone should have fun. You are not a god who should advice people how to play.
Explain them the mechanics but please do not explain their jobs. They will figure it out how to work with. If a dungeon is working smoothly with a handfull of skills then why should they use more? You are also not healing more as you need. As also a Tank is not generating more aggro as needed.
2) It is a goddamned game.... if it kills you that a dungeon can really use all of the allowed time: Do not run dungeons.... the timer is there for a reason... I mean do you really go into a dungeon with the idea: "Ahhh in 20 mins I can go to the next"?
Something must be wrong with you then... when I go into a dungeon nothing matters as to complete the dungeon. Even if we wipe 30 times I do not care. Cause it is a damn game. Only if a boss is not killable in the current setup we talk to each other and then we try it again.... thats it.
3) Stop giving advice! For each word you are writting into the chat you cannot do your own job! So do not cry for "something goes slow" if you also slow things down with your crying.... I mean... makes totally sense to slow down things that you can cry about... slow down things... wtf
Most of the time you will never see them again.... do you really would like to use your breath for things which are going to be ignored once the dungeon is done?
I would have just kicked them. We had some guy doing just auto attacks and spamming aoes on single targets yesterday and just booted him outright. Trying and wiping is fine. Learning is fine. Being a door knob is not fine. You'll get kicked. Send a report idc. Have fun in your df queue.
Yes. I don't have nine hours a day to play, and I certainly don't have 40 minutes to waste on a dungeon that can be done in 15-20 if everyone is doing their job properly. If you only do one dungeon a day, sure, knock your socks off, but if you have five roulettes lined up and they all take twice as long as they should because of laziness...

Ongoing mission: Tank everything on DRG. On purpose.
Agree 100% and just to clarify, the bad player isn't the tank who left, the bad player is the one getting carried (OR EXPECTING TOO) thru a very easy dungeon because they are too entitled to do any work.Yes.
What does have to do a DoT with BotD? A DoT is, usually, a waste on trash, BotD definitely isn't.
Anyway, aaaaaaaand yet again, I quit when I got threatened. I wasn't gonna quit when I saw them lazying their run out. Do I like it? No, but what made me get out was their extremely rude behaviour over a single question, because that's all I even typed.
Worry not, next time I'll kick them out, post here, and watch you all go crazy over me kicking them instead of abandoning the duty myself and get slapped with the penalty.
At this point, I'm actually having a laugh. Thanks guys!![]()
Some people don't like having their time wasted, it is one thing if someone is lower gear even that won't slow the run down THAT much. It is when people just don't care about the fact they are wasting other people's time by being lazy that is bothersome. That is just plain rude when you are playing a game that involves other people. If you play a 1 person game then sure I don't care how you play it, but you should be giving a solid effort when it involves group play.
Your post shows you don't have much respect for your own time. Yes, it is a game, but that doesn't mean I should have to put up with something that should take 20 minutes taking 60+ minutes because someone can't be bothered to put forth proper effort. I rarely say anything to people in the group that is negative it has to be pretty bad but I don't agree with your premise that you shouldn't speak up if someone is clearly wasting everyone's time.
1)Yes, everyone should have fun. 3 people being held back on account of one person is not fun. If a battle is being extended because of poor DPS, then absolutely more healing is needed. If a 30 second encounter takes 50 seconds and I stop healing after 30 seconds, the tank is going to die.
2)I don't mind if dungeons take long. I don't mind wiping, in fact, I love coaching newbies through something they find challenging. I cleared a Sunken Temple of Qarn NM with less than 10 seconds on the clock. If everyone is trying their best it will get done.
3)I rarely give advice, due to the fact that it most often ends like the OP's case and falls on deaf ears. Like I said, it's your responsibility to know your role. I usually stay quiet and out-DPS them on healer, solely out of courtesy to the others that queued, but on a bad day I don't hesitate to drop if someone is willfully wasting my time. It's players like in the OP that care so little they'll even tell you straight up that bother me. Just try your best and we will get along fine.
