Ah thanks all sorted now! - He also bought 60 day card and used. It shows on both accounts that the code was regiested correctly, do you have to wait untill he gets into the 60 days or should the items come through straight away?

There's the initial RaF code registration rewards (i.e. the 5 gold chocobo feathers for you) which should be sent. The first 30 day sub rewards should be sent if he used a game time card. From the RaF page:

In-game rewards will be sent via moogle delivery service to recruiters based on their friend's subscription length. Note that the 30 day free trial period does not count toward subscription length. (Purchasing subscription days using a game time card, however, will allow subscription days to be immediately accumulated).
