Well, I'm very glad that you are in a FC that has enough people to access this content. Clearly you are one of those that take the view that if you personally have access to content, then it doesn't matter if anyone else is barred..

Yeah, 4 people. Four. The entirety of my FC is 4 people.
If you can't make 3 friends in an MMO, the problem is you and not the content that asks you to know 3 other people.

I might agree that the housing in this game is a major problem from the lack of plots vs subscribers and might even agree that due to that lack of plots it makes rewards such as those bring back from ventures using fc airships a slap in the face to those of us on worlds with zero plots left even though can afford a house if was a plot...but on the topic of this specific thing you mentioned you have no basis for complaint as someone else already pointed out and you just never bothered to research it more.

You said all a person needs is effort though. You're walking it back now that you've had the opportunity to rethink it (irony), and rightfully so. Only problem is, you're still making it sound trivial, because in addition to the substantial amount of gil necessary (because people don't just vacate lots; they sell them on PF for greatly inflated sums), you need the good fortune to actually catch wind of the sale opportunity during the short window it'll be available.

The system is fine as it is. You can ask friends to join you when you are ready to craft.

If airship came to be available for a single person, players would buy housing plots only as additional "retainers". It would end up with no housing for those who need one.

Waiting for a plot to open up is not hard work. Certainly not impossible. SE have been pretty open about their plans for improving housing availability.

No, waiting for a plot to open up is not hard work. That's the problem. Housing isn't some goal everyone can put a measurable and uniform amount of effort towards to attain as you made it out to be. Housing's current availability to players is largely determined by factors beyond their control ("patience"), and the plans to free up unused lots is a band-aid at best. As for what my complaint with you is (you didn't actually ask me a first time, but w/e), my complaint with your post is its portrayal of players who can't acquire housing as lazy, entitled, and the lowest common denominator.
