You can have people who aren't in your FC in the party when advancing a workshop craft (provided your FC house is open to the public), though they won't be able to help you contribute materials. Past that, it's pretty much a matter of putting what you're looking for in the party finder comments.

oh I'm quite aware of that fact. But to find people to join your party and sit in your workshop while you advance the craft can be ... difficult ... especially when you can put up a party finder but not set slots for DoH classes.
