    Yeah I think this is a much more efficient way of looking at it. Kill mobs with nasty AOEs first and be mindful of your group. I always thought it was more efficient for non AOE jobs to grab low HP Mobs so lower the overall mob count. As a healer I'd appreciate that more. But that's just me and my two Gil.

    For BLM in particular, the problem with focusing on the tank marked target during AoE rotations is that they can potentially die mid-cast thereby wasting a huge chunk of time. I always cast Fire III for Astral Fire on another target if the current one was getting too low *shrug*. You most definitely should not hard cast Flare on a mob that has melee DPS hitting it, because 9/10 that leads to the BLM rotation of shame.

    Exactly and especially if a WHM is using holy. Targeting the highest for fire II's and flares is what I just found works best.

    It seems more effective if the BLM or SMN AoE while melee takes out priority targets first, then jump on the weakened enemies.

    As a tank AND a healer. I would rather the melee DPS go after whats almost dead even if he does rip. When your mass pulling one mob out of the blob won't matter as long as my tanks aoes are still hitting as well.

    False. A good melee dps stays on the tank's target so they don't pull aggro and they down that first mob faster so that the tank has one less mob kicking them in the teeth. Tank already has enough to deal with keeping hate on everything you're AOEing the crap out of.

    Have to agree with bounddreamer. As someone who tanks and plays goon pretty exclusively it kills me when I see melee moving from one add to another without killing a single damn thing. Your job is single target damage...kill something already. Also order of adds for melee should be followed more then this nonsensical idea that lower hp adds should go first. There is always an add order which is mainly high damage or high hp targets, aoe damage adds and then the rest of the mob. As a tank i would rather you dps down the aoe add so I don't have to run around in circles like a moron trying to dodge. Also from a melee perspective less running tank needs to do the more likely you can do your positionals.

    Too many people with the idea of "must do max DPS" mentality instead of "must kill mob(s) fast to reduce the tank/healer burden". If someone can't tell the difference between the two, I rest my case.

    This is why we need a leveling area for that time between soloing and dungeons, someplace unforgiving of brainless play so people can learn how to properly play in a party. I mean, really... "Melee should go kill the mobs that aren't being touched because my spells are busy killing the ones with the tank's undivided attention." That is not the advice of a team player, nor one I'd tolerate in any party I form.
