    Next Expansion Please Give Us Traits Instead of Skills

    I was just reading a thread about how their were too many skills in this game. I don't really agree with this but I was sad that we didn't get any traits in Heavensward. I think adding traits next time instead of skills would be a good way to mix things up. You can totally change rotations and make things more interesting with just a few traits.

    You must not play most classes.

    Dragoon has entirely too many and my Paladin has like 5 buttons that do essentially the exact same thing.

    More abilities for the sake of abilities is bad.

    I imagine something will happen going into 4.0. Classes/jobs will get redesigns or we may get upgrades to existing skills during the 4.0 job quests. I don't see them adding more skills to the lists. They're already bloated enough as is.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

    I'm all for this. I am also for what WoW does, and they just add ranks/tiers to the skills we have instead of just adding more skills. Either way, I like the idea of having more traits. Preferably something other than +5 to a single stat.

    This is what good action rpgs don't have to contend with as much.
    Less actions with more control over the few actions there are versus more actions with less control over the many actions there are.

    Combat is ebbing to the side God Of War when it should be ebbing to the side of dynamic control per skill.

    My WHM, with pvp skills, has 4 full hotbars.

    Now I could reclaim some space by removing pvp skills, but the point is, there's a ton of skills.

    Now I'm actually pretty OK with what WHM has. A lot of neat tools, different stuff for different situations. I feel like I have a good amount of options for how I want to heal a given amount of damage. But I don't want more buttons. Right now is fine, more would be unmanageable for me.

    The latency should not be an issue. This mmo is one of the premiere mmos on the market now not some mmo struggling to get on it's feet. I play other online games and shooters with much more dynamic control and suffer little to no lag. And that is in open world and 64 man instances.

    I think 4.0 they may have to consider removing useless and or skills that don't see much use or merging skills together.
