Why is it embarrassing? What does it matter to other people what players name their characters?

Well judging by your character name of course you wouldn't care. Perhaps embarassed is the wrong word I should use, but its kinda ... "eh" to see so many people using the same last name.

Every now and then, you'll find someone who tried to be original and call themselves by a less pop-culturey name - only to find that even THAT was taken. And then go ahead and use it anyway, and wind up with something like Abraham Lincoln'.

Dang, guess he was late to jump on the Abe Lincoln bandwagon!

On a side note, I was a bit surprised at just how many Abe and Abraham Lincolns popped up on my Lodestone search.

I understand what you mean. I was just confused as to why someone would be embarrassed by someone elses character name.

I think it was maybe more funny to me cus I can only imagine they typed "Tifa Lockhart" name taken "Tifaa Lockhart" name taken and just kept doubling letters till it worked xD

Though I am sure I am not the only Higurashi fan and surely someone else has tried to use my name too, only downside is I have yet to find a cosplay set ingame to match that isnt her school girl outfit.

Highwinds are rampant and so are people who try to name themselves after Game of Thrones.

Yeah I agree in that I find it stupid when people just lengthen the names of actuall FF characters. It just looks stupid.

In 1.0 there was a quest in the shroud (iirc, been a while XD) that made fun of those using previous Final Fantasy key character names and mispelling them.

Hopefully someone screenshotted the dialogue and posts it *hint hint* XD

I'm fine with the Lockharts, Leonhearts, Highwinds, and Kirito. but I really hate those Uchiha. everytime I see the name I want to kick the guy out of my party.

It's technically against ToS to use one of their older ff characters names, I can't remember exactly where but its in there
