Equip the Earring.

I did that but nothing, only thing I didn't do is talk to the NPC that pops up in town.

I did equip it, and I did talk to the NPC -- both done last night.
Oh well. I guess I'll just wait and see.

The earring is a bit large, by the way. ^^;
