That's not really so terrible a design. Many MMOs out there constantly save inventory changes into their respective databases in real-time. The devs have mentioned this feature before like it's some sort of super-intensive thing, but it's no more than par for the course. Hell, the fact that it only sends that information every 15 seconds makes it less intensive than the real-time flow of inventory data that most MMOs tend to have.

On second thought, I wonder if they have it designed to only send the inventory data if there was a change within the inventory. I'd imagine so, but if not... Wow. So much waste.

Anyway, that's all kind of off topic.

Easy ways that still require multiple unnecessary clicks.

The savings may be insignificant, but so would the development time.

We're just going in circles with this, huh?

Honestly, though, it's not just this. There are a lot of small things in the game's UI that could be streamlined for easier, more efficient use. This, an item quantity counter for buying from the vendors that don't currently have one, confirmation windows that are hardly necessary (collectible gathering, for example), etc. All these things are fairly insignificant, but fixing them would definitely make using the UI feel better and, when taken all together, save a fair bit of time depending on how often you need to use the UI for such things.

    Definately should be added imo.

ANY change that polishes the game as the op states is a bonus. Why settle for second rate when a game should strive for being the best and most fluid as possible. That applies not just to the specific areas we personally may be interested in...but every single aspect of it.

Absolutley op, a repair all would be used by ppl, not all, but nothing in the game is enjoyed/used by everyone. The game lacks so many QoL changes its embarassing. Alone they seem minor, but added up they seem like an oversight.

SE standards should be much higher for their product. In some areas they are way above the norm but when it comes to Qol the game feels old.

Its just my opinion but..never be happy with "its good enough"...always ask for the best they can offer, because in reality even then , games normally will only meet you half way (if that)

I think this would be a useful addition. I switch class a lot and having to click down through the menu to check everything is repaired can be annoying.
When I started playing, I didn't realise that clicking the 'Repair All' button simply repaired the gear I had equipped. I couldn't understand how items were getting broken because I thought I repaired all my gear regularly. Then I found the rest of the menu and everything became clear.
To those people who don't like this idea, what harm as long as it's optional?

The harm is people will then say it's too expensive and should be free. Then will go on saying it's a useless feature in the game as should be removed. The idea is to stop that snowball before it creates an avalanche.

    Er... really?
It's a small quality of life change that would benefit players like me. I understand some people don't mind clicking through the menus and wouldn't use it if it was there, but I'd appreciate having the option.
The argument that this shouldn't be implemented because that would be the start of some 'slippery slope' that would lead to players demanding free repairs and then no repairs seems illogical, to be honest.

Odd, most mmorpg and rpgs have a option the repair everything with one button, I too am wondering why this was not included?

This is just one example of a clunky selection interface that does nothing except cause annoyance for players. Here are some other top interface annoyances:

    • Repair (as in the OP)
    • Collectable turn-in. They added a "250" to the existing "50" option but, really, why not an interface that allows you to enter whatever amount you want?
    • Melding. It's bad enough having a very long, annoying "failure animation" but the UI puts you back at the start of selection each time. When you need 20 attempts to finally meld something, it would be nice to have the interface put you back after an attempt at exactly the same spot you were before - last item and last materia highlighted. Very annoying for deep overmelds or for bulk melding of gear before setting out on a SB session.
Unfortunately, SE designers still seem to be stuck on a lowest common denominator game console style of interface.

Why not? We've argued over whether or not people should want to be kicked if they beg for it, which is probably the only game where I seen people wanting to be booted out.

I can nearly gurantee you that is what will happen. People would complain for having to walk to the MCH guild from the Crystal if we didn't have the mini teleports all over town.

And yet no one is saying that walking is an unnecessary feature and should be removed in lieu of more teleports.

    Funny how that works.

Most everyone knows that gear repairs are there to add some sort of small Gil sink into the game. Anyone calling it a useless feature would just be laughed out of the forums. In all seriousness, I'm very cynical of MMO communities and even I don't believe this would happen.
