If you can't provide instanced housing, what about...

    ... instanced housing features?

It would be great and reduce the urge to get a house, if we were able to
    • get an instanced airship-workshop in Mhor Dhona
    • get an instanced chocobo-stable in Ishgard
    • get an instanced garden in Gridania / botanist guild

I would'nt care if it costs double or three times the gil any house-owner would pay to get access to/ buy /build the feature....
but at least it would be a way to provide the majority of players with the neat housing features on the one hand, but won't raise the server load as much as houses with placed furniture etc on the other...

These two statements contradict each other. :/

No they don't. The issue with housing isn't the cost, its the availability. There are a finite number of small houses, and on most servers, all of those have already been purchased. Also, the price of just the workshop/stables/garden is significantly less than that of a house.

I feel this idea is wonderful for stables. I don't really get why they haven't done this already? We can already access multiple stables (they already worked out the bugs with multiple stables not generating multiple chocobos and such) and other people can already not feed our chocos in personal ones, so why not do this in a public place too?

For gardens, it would be nice if there was some way to grow stuff, even if just in two-plot gardens or something. Gridania could have an atrium where you can buy space.

But, for workshops, I don't think this idea would work. For workshops, unlocks are tied to the house/workshop, not the FC or player or ship or whatnot. If you're talking about individuals having airships, well, ranks are tied to the FC airship slot, not to the airship itself. You can change all the parts and the ship's rank doesn't change. You can destroy all your ships and your FC's sector unlocks don't change. You can't put workshops in individual houses. It takes a light party of four people to advance a workshop project. If you're thinking that it would still require an FC to craft the ship parts, but individuals could buy those ship parts on the MB and just assemble their own ships to send out, that would still be a bunch of per-character data to suddenly have to store. And, they want airships to be an FC group activity.

If you're thinking that homeless FCs should have the ability to buy an instanced workshop that the whole FC can access, well, at present all unlocks are tied to a house, not to the FC. Right now, if your FC sold their house and bought a new one, their new workshop would not have any of the unlocks they had obtained. They'd have to start from scratch. For the instanced workshop idea to work, they'd have to change how they are doing things pretty significantly. Also, if that FC then buys a house, how do you handle the two workshops? Do they get separate ship slots in each and separate unlocks for each? Are they the same workshop?

    Apparently the instanced workshop can be moved into the new house by using the up coming house moving system! ^^;

    I would argue it's both.

It doesn't matter how expensive something is if there are zero available for purchase...

I want affordable instanced housing for every single player who desires a home/zone with the flexibility, enjoyment, creativity and long lasting survivability of Rift, nothing less imo.

They could have made housing soooooooooo much fun and given the homeowners months of enjoyment for every project they wanted to create. We are muzzled and hog tied atm to what we can alter, create and imagine or achieve..its stiffling.

Even worse is the fact that so many can not even engage in the plop and drop housing we do have or any of the assosicated "perks" due to lack of availability.

Yup I ask for a far superior design.

It sounds harsh but its 100% true, no need for blinders. It needs a total revamp and it needs to be readily available to everyone.

Obviously. But if there were to theoretically be "enough", then price would come forward as a limiting factor.

Pretty much anything less is just... so ridiculously subpar. SE needs to suck it up and redo the system. They can keep the framework for the current thing for some special FC-only housing or something, but seriously... Why make their housing system so deliberately restrictive when multiple games have shown how incredible (and how readily players will engage) it can be?

no, it wouldn't. the prices are static set by the system there's a cap to how expensive the plots are. gil has been pouring into the game. i probably generate a minimum of 100k gil from challenge log, dungeons, roulette, scrip turn-ins every week. and i'm just 1 person.

Not everyone is a crafter (scrips). When I was last playing, I never managed to get more than 3 million gil, while houses on Balmung cost upwards of... well, stupid amounts of gil. And, why should simple access to housing cost an arm and a leg anyway? Far better systems make the access free and the customization cost gold.
