Garlean is a nationality, not a race.

Pureblood Garlean's is very much a race. Do you see any Hyur, Miqo'te, Lalafell, Roegadyn, Au Ra, or Elezen with third eyes, white hair? No, because that is what the Garlean race looks like. As a nation, there are non-Garlean, Garlean citizens (more like brainwashed captives) from Ala Mihgo and gods know where else.

On topic, if you're going by story and in game, Elezen are quite popular and many Elezen play major roles in the game, like Louisoix, Alphinaud/Alisaie, Uriangier, Haurchefaunt, Y'sayle, Estienin, Aymeric, etc etc.

If you're going by fans, then yes Elezen seem to be an underdog race most people choose. At the moment it's hard to kill off Midlanders, Miqo'tes, and such simply because there aren't many of them that are in quite a good position in the story, or in a high stance of power in any part of current Eorzea we've seen so far.

And uh... you mention Teledji, he's Lalafell.... they are QUITE popular!

Interesting, mind if I ask for an official source? I've never heard that they're a separate race, pureblood sure, but with real world comparisons being 100% British/Australian or whatever doesn't separate you as a race entirely.

If they aren't a separate race, what are they? Where is your source and proof to back up your claims? Admittedly I can't think of a source atm, other than the game. I'm pretty sure it's mentioned somewhere during some CS or such. But that could take awhile to find, and time I don't currently have.

I've even heard the theory that the "enlightened races" are all one species (kind of like how all dogs are one species, but you wouldn't know it comparing a Great Dane and a Chihuahua), but so far as I know that's yet to be proven. The chief difference between a Hyur and a Miqo'te are the shape of their ears and a tail, otherwise they mostly look the same. Likewise the chief difference between a Garlean and a Hyur is their third "eye". Otherwise, they can mostly pass for each other.

They're also classified as different races by SE, while the Garleans don't seem to be from what I can recall.

IMO Hellsguard ladies can probably be more Hyur-like, given the right skintone.

There isn't much mention of garleans in general, Cid even mentioned not many people actually know about them and just assume garlemald is another hyur nation. Garleans as mentioned cannot use magic and it's mentioned on the website talking about the garlean empire and confirmed in a lore Q&A at one of the fan fests. They all have a third eye, Aryan features (so far), seem to be taller than highlanders or as tall and an inability to use magic hence why they focus so much on technology.

Lucia, Nero, and Cid are all pureblood Garleans; they all have third eyes and white hair. It's definitely a distinct race.

But still mostly Hyur in appearance. I can easily see them being the third clan for Hyurs: Midlander, Highlander and Garlean.
