Adding Legacy Tattoo to Mog Station

Check the other legacy servers your character from 1.0 might be on one of those. I have 2 characters from 1.0 and when 2.0 launched one was on a NA server and the other one was on a JP server even though they were on same server in 1.0

My character was gone, but all of her character creation information is still there. It's weird because I didn't recreate my 1.0 character in 2.0. The template was just there saved automatically for me to choose from when I could create a character. I didn't save it while in 1.0 either, it's like the character was there when they shut down the servers of 1.0, but the only part that remained in 2.0 was her creation data.

I'm not sure how correct the Castrum Novum thing is. I was a 30 archer without a job stone at the time 1.0 ended and i pretty much never left the Shroud. CS's 2 and 3 of the quest Coming to Gridania for Laura are teleporting back into the Shroud (the road looks similar to in front of Amdapor) and talks about the battle and my Au Ra has the carriage ride and talk about the Shroud.

Edit: I also wasn't playing during the final weeks.

Hmm, may simply be a glitch as I originally assumed, then. Again though, not really perturbed by it, I'll just assume my invitation was lost in the life stream.

Because we have it and they want it because they don't. We took the time and dedication to play a broken game for the 2 years it was up and they couldn't have been bothered. You who did not play 1.0 are undeserving of something that makes us 1.0 players unique and proud of sticking with it. Quit your whining and just accept you aren't going to get what SE gave to us. I vote no on the legacy tat being available to ppl who didn't play when we played to deserve it.

FFXIV 1.0 was a magical time. I would say no to giving out the tattoo to someone who didn't experience that era. Sorry if this seems blunt.

I don't agree with non-legacy players having the tattoo either, but this sounds just as entitled as the people asking to have it because it looks cool or because it fits with what they want to RP their character as or whatever. You're making it sound like it's a freaking Purple Heart or a Congressional Medal of Honor or something. You played the game during that time period and you got a tattoo because 1.0 was utter garbage and had to be rebooted. Yay for you. Seriously, try with a little less (not so) righteous indignation next time.

I've been reading about ppl whining about what they don't have because they didn't play the game then vs those who did and they've come off as very resentful so I have every right to respond in such kind. I've been reading it since the 2.0 alpha forums and frankly I'm tired of the whining.

I don't agree with this. Not because I want to be mean about it, but only wanting it because you can't acquire it is silly. I didn't play long enough in 1.0 to get the Dalamud Horn or the special Goobbue mount. I want them. I can't have them. Oh well. There's been no word on the Lightning Strikes event coming back, and no word on those items being brought to the Mog Station. I missed some of the items on one of my characters. Oh well. I can deal.

There's likely, in the future, going to be things that 2.0 players from the start will get that new players after will not get as a thank you for playing, thank you for supporting us. That's what the legacy (...hence the name) tattoo is: thanks for at least making a character and trying out previous version, and making our 2.0 version a reality. I'm sorry you didn't play/have a character back then, and yes it's crappy if you preordered the ps3 version and didn't get that status, but you just kind of have to move on from it. I wouldn't be adverse to people having a different tattoo available from Jandelaine like they did with the sylph quests goobbue mount being different than the original one. That's fine. All for that. But most companies do things for the original playerbase who support them, and SE is no different in this.

So, no. Let the legacy players, even those who tried it for their free month, didn't like 1.0 but came back for 2.0, have their thank you. You'll get yours eventually as well.

Yes, but you said that it was for supporting the game, putting it in the cash shop would still be in line with the same attitude of supporting the game.

He means supporting the 1.0 version of the game. That's entirely different to supporting ARR and HW which is what he says us 1.0 players did and why what SE promised us as ty gifts should remain just that, ty gifts to us, not something those of you couldn't have been bothered to play 1.0 at all want.

I did a little digging, because while both my characters were from 1.0, and have the tattoo, they still went through the same new-character carriage ride. Apparently, you had to have completed the Castrum Novum quest in 1.0 before the final data save in order to receive the intro that mimics the characters returning in the opening video of 2.0. There's also some small dialog where Minfilia recognizes you from before the Calamity, and consoles you and suggests that you might one day be able to lift the veil.

Yeah, you did have to reach a certain point in the storyline in order to qualify for the mark, etc. Minfillia remembers you, and so does Cid, actually.

Interesting. I didn't know that there was a difference in the story for Legacy and non-Legacy characters apart from the opening sequence. So basically, for Legacy players, Eorzea's champion makes a triumphant return, branded by their experience but otherwise none the worse for wear. For us newer players, the old WoL just... never came back. They were whisked away on that day on Cartineau and nobody has seen them since. Since the Legacy WoL doesn't "return" in the MSQ of a new player, Hydaelyn never lifts that veil and they don't remember who the WoL used to be. In their place a new hero rises up, etc etc. It's all very tidy. I like it.

Yep! It's funny... so you're running around, already a Warrior of Light, but having to prove yourself again, because all those key people don't remember you lol.

It was quite maddening, and funny, reading some of the dialog.

I remember Miounne saying something about you continuing to surprising her, and next thing you'll be telling her you're one of the Warriors of Light... I think I actually shouted, "I AM!" at my screen lol.

It's a nice touch, though.
