T13 is old content now. =P
Yoshi may have been right in suggestion more games are leaning towards F2P, and there's nothing wrong in that. I don't believe there is anything to fear in regards to this game going the same way because they've reached their target audience, they seem to be growing and they have the support of current players to remain P2P. I find it a somewhat ignorant that many are quick to say F2P is play to win, I play ESO purely because battles feel more real, I love the sound, and the exploration it has. I haven't paid a single penny since I bought the game. Sure enough you see people running around on mounts they paid for, it's their own choice. F2P games can be every bit as enjoyable without buying a mount or wearing attire someone can buy which is made up entirely out of freaking pixels. I only come back to Final Fantasy because of the community, pvp and the hope they fix the Golden Saucer...not that I don't mention that in most things I post...Please make the Golden Saucer fun and awesome![]()
ESO is B2P, same as GW2. That is different from F2P.
They cannot introduce P2W in B2P games, serious table flipping would occur.
Anyways I agree with you in the matter of FFXIV. There will be always people focusing only on subscription based MMOs and there will be always space for a few of them on the market. I don't believe there is or ever will be F2P game that introduces as much content as FFXIV. Subscriptions allow SE to create content without being afraid of their income that much, also even when WoW's subscribers number fluctuate a lot, they still have steady 5M of paying users, which is still probably easier than having game which relies only on cash shop.
You will never know if you are going to be able to attract as much people to buy your stuff as the previous month. Someone might say it is the same with subscriptions, well I believe it doesn't change so much monthly as cash shop transactions.
No thanks, I had enough of P2W in my Rappelz years (and this is when it was popular). Stamina Saver packs, lost exp on death that in the endgame cost actually money to realistically fix, pet card drop rates that make the rarest drops in this game look like a godsend.
No thanks.
And there's the biggest hint that you don't know what you're talking about.of coure, there'll allways be as few "pulled" thru some fights.. but not in such masses and not without knowing the fight enough
now you can get pulled thru such things as T9 and T13 in Party Finders without knowing half the fight and with ramdoms fast and easy..., cause you can do it with only 7 players with ease unsynced
many are not going thru the real experience of scob and fcob. but just poping in unsyned and getting the first kills within a few hours, like T6 and T7 on the same day for the first time...
its imo breaking the game for new players..., those epic raids have become something of the past many (if not most) new players
those were some of the best game/raid expriences... (and ex-primal farming is also dumbed down too much with unsynced)
Free to play lowers the developers barrier of entry to put in mmo on the market and makes it easier of developers to make a quick short term cash grab. Pay to play model makes developers either be invested in their mmo or fail and developers have to think long term and actual make content for the game instead of overpriced cash shop items.
I also played rappelz, though i loved my rooster pet, i didn't get too far into it because it had buying stuff everywhere. It felt deceptive for a free game.No thanks, I had enough of P2W in my Rappelz years (and this is when it was popular). Mm... a lot of (smaller) developers that find f2p distasteful eventually have to court it. For many, it's the only realistic way to make money. Many people just aren't willing to pay upfront for games anymore.Free to play lowers the developers barrier of entry to put in mmo on the market and makes it easier of developers to make a quick short term cash grab. Square (and some other big publishers) have the muscle and marketing to avoid it.
I'm really hoping the P2P model doesn't vanish with MMORPGs. I'm not a fan of the F2P model, even something like GW2 was not much fun. I feel like having to pay for every little thing in F2P is stressful and takes away a lot of the fun. I'm here to earn the neat stuff through gameplay and accomplishments, not buy it. F2P also feels like it ends up adding up to more than 15$ if you want to be able to enjoy the game.
Even if a F2P model is not P2W I dislike it because a lot of the concentration on developer time is spent on cash shop stuff, instead of actual gameplay additions. That, and I would like to have the option to grind and collect cosmetic/silly items. If I have to pay for all/most of them then what's the point? May as well play a single player game at that point.
