Can I dye my gear? And is there a costume system?

Gamer, fwiw, I found that Raptor Blue Dye I really liked... but it is gated behind beastribe rep w/Amal'jaa (or however they are spelled!). They have a small camp right outside Little Ala Mhigo. They have 3 dailies, they are all based outside so I usually wait for daylight hours to run them.

This is exactly the sort of thing you should ask your FC about - many people who have been playing a while already have the necessary faction and can buy the dyes for you. If you're in an FC that you joined randomly (as opposed to one with out-of-game friends) and no one will help you with that sort of thing, you may want to find an FC with more helpful members. <_<

If you aren't in an FC, having people around to help you with this sort of thing is one of many benefits to being in an FC with people who have been playing a while, even though much of the group-based content is focused on level 50+ characters.

Except in addition to rep w/Beasttribes, I can buy a mount (which I would assume to be BoE, not like the dye) AND I get Tomes of Poetics which I understand I use to buy higher end gear. I do ask for the occasional word of advice in the FC channel!

Beast Tribes aren't going to be relevant to the OP for a while, though, since you can't even unlock it to begin earning rep until level 43. Until then, if he wants those rep gated dyes, the best way to get them is from a friend or FC-mate who already has the rep needed. The only other way to get them is to buy them off the Market Board, where the prices are often ridiculously inflated if they're being offered at all.
