PS3 general support is going to discontinue anyway.
Most console makers quit legacy support a few years after a new model is out. When Sony cuts PS3 support, then yeah, so will SE.

Funny, they have yet to do that with XI and the PS2 and Sony isn't even making those anymore. Yoshida has said that they may drop the PS3 assuming interest in the console wanes substantially. I.e. a sizable population of PS3 players transfers from the console.
