I think AF gear should stay restricted.
Everything else should be free to glamour
ESPECIALLY when NPCs can wear gear they shouldnt be able to as their class.
Ex) Papalymo with armor gloves, the pirate/bandit leader in the AST story wearing the infantry skirt while they are an ACN

so you're saying your BRD can use Medica II now? i want to play the game you're playing cause that's not the game i play.

the 3 restrictions i support are
    AF gear
    GC gear
    M/F gear

i do not want an Immortal Flames player wearing Twin Adder gear. it's not about knowing how to wear clothes, it's about respecting your position, which is what some of the analogies were meant for. a fireman can be an auxiliary police officer and own a police uniform but when he goes to work to do his job as a fireman he's not going to be wearing his auxiliary police uniform.

all of the things our characters do in the game are called "Jobs", hence why Job specific gear should be Job specific.

Agree with GC/AF restrictions. Disagree with male/female restrictions. If that beefcake male roe wants to wear a skirt, let him. If that petite midlander hyur wants to wear the equivalent of jeans/boots/tshirt, let her.

I've always thought if the system we currently have wasn't so restricting it'd be alot more fun. I think the earlier example used that a fireman should not wear a police unifrom etc makes sense and that's akin to the AF armor in game. But everything else shouldn't be locked. If I want to be a badass SMN in some heavy armor (Skyrim comes to mind, Daedric Armor-> battle mage!!) I think I should be allowed. Hell, half the fun in this game comes from customizing your character to look how you want (be it goofy, cool, sexy, whatever) and by limiting the system it loses alot of its flavor

Pretty much this lol Though, prisms are the only thing I'm really lazy about buying. Other things though, I'll usually go out and make / get it cheaper from a npc. Like glamour removers. 500 gil from a npc > 5k on market.
The thing though with just buying prisms vs making them, is trying to get the drops of the mob, or end up spending 5k+ anyways because the only one of the item needed is in a stack of 20+ when you only need like ~3

It's a video game. Fun in customization should trump all when it comes to determining "limits". If someone earned the gear - through a drop, a quest, the market board, crafting, etc - then they should be able to glamour it. Period.

Of course fun should trump everything, but not everyone has the same idea of fun. Some people find the game more fun if they can attach a certain significance to special gear, treating it as a meaningful uniform. Taking the meaning away can reduce the associated fun.

That's not to say the restrictions shouldn't be eased a great deal. Many of them are on gear that has no special significance and those should be allowed for anyone. But things like AF or GC gear are uniforms and keeping them restricted to the appropriate job or GC is part of part of maintaining what the significance of that gear is.

Regarding AF - I can see where some people are coming from that this gear should be untouchable as it's iconic to the series, etc. IMO, this defense stopped working the moment they made AF dyeable.

The colors of AF are every bit as iconic and significant as the style of the gear itself, perhaps even more so. Since that restriction has been removed, why not just open them up entirely to be used in the glamour system?

Lifting the restrictions on AF and GC gear would not damage your play, because you could still choose to not glamour certain gear. I will never agree with players trying to control how other people customize their characters - especially when it comes to cosmetics.
