FFXIV 2nd expansion: Viera-like race still a possibility?

Pretty sure people would be fine with a Robot race. I see plenty of support when it comes to Cast-types in PSO.

We should stop adding silly races and focus on expanding the existing ones with more customization options and focus more on the content in game like better and more active dungeons , even better storyline and voice acting better endgame content. Those are more important than silly bunny race with high heels which look like fury prostitutes.

The thing about the cat girls being similar is all well and good but it'd be really nice to have a female character that was less teenager and more woman. Mysoginistic notions aside all of the races atm with the exception of highlander and rho (both of which I can't stand sorry) are basically slightly different teenage or younger girls.viera females are traditionally more adult looking.

I don't get you people... You don't want Viera because they would be miqo'tes with bunny ears? But we instead got elezens with horns...? Why even bother defending the opposition with this argument? It doesn't make any senses.

In my opinion, we need a new race with smaller males (and it would be hard to have smaller females than au'ras but I guess they can try). I would love vieras too if they aren't too tall. I think I liked their small childlike version of Viera the most since they were maybe another humanoid race with animal features but at least they were very different in proportions to the rest of the other races. Instead, we got elezen with horns(males) and miqo'tes with horns(female). And don't talk about the lalafells. If you can't make the difference between a childlike race and baby people, you have a serious problem.

Problem with that is that's adding more cute things to the game (not one, but two). Maybe in the third expansion they can go back to making a cute thing, but for 4.0... I'm really hoping for something that is unique/ugly for everyone.

Let me explain.

It doesn't matter that not many people will play the race. They will still add diversity, which is sorely needed in this fantasy game of humanoids of various heights. And just there being such a race will attract people to the game, even if they don't play the race.

Think of the average WoW player for example. A WoW player leaves a game full of many different races, both bestial and not bestial, takes a look at FFXIV's races, and sees this:

1. Human
2. Big muscly human
3. Slightly bigger wider muscly human
4. Human with cat ears and a cat tail
5. Human with horns and a scaley tail
6. Very short round human
7. Tall human with elf ears

Such a player will probably not like what they see. And such a player very well exists, as WoW's success has proven over the years. Diversity and choice are selling points. Currently we have very little of either in this game, and people who are used to it and enjoy it (such as people in WoW) will see that as a strong negative.

Numbers dictate that the amount of people who actually play them are a very small percentage among the community.

But how are you sure of the numbers when we don't actually have a big fierce beast race yet? Roegadyn are tall and strong but they are not beasts. Miqote and Au Ra have animal features but they are not tall and strong. It's often not just about a single feature, but rather a combination of things that attracts players to pick a certain race.

Hmmm... people say they want a beastly race, but I really wonder how many people who say that would actually change to one.

Tall, strong, exotic creatures that are beautiful in some way are my thing and I would definitely play one if it was added. In WoW I mained a male worgen for a while, and it would have been female had they not made them awful looking Disney chihuahua freaks. I mained a draenei too, a beautiful tall goat lady. I also had female characters that were a panda, a troll (tusks and long ears) and a tauren (minotaur creature). My first character was a night elf. They are not animal themed but they are tall and have long eyebrows, muscly bodies, big hands and glowing eyes.

Despite what a lot of people seem to think, it is possible to make female models that have exotic/bestial features, are beautiful and are also fierce at the same time. But because this has never been done in the game yet, people who want to have a beautiful character only vote for cute near-human races like Viera because that's what they are used to.

There aren't a lot of players that would play a beastial race especially as a female so it would be a waste to design. Viera is the only race people want to see because they are a taller version of a Miquote with bunny ears an high heels.
