    New to marauder....

    sooooo any tips? im kind of confused at why half my abilities are like tanking abilities and everything i have is an aoe. is the class supposed to be like, a tank? im not sure i get that part, or are they sort of "the guy that aoes and picks up loose mobs" kind of offtank?

    i mean, i like the aoe for leves and behests, its a lot of fun. just wondering how others utilize the class and all.

    like for instance, do i want to keep defender up for soloing? is the defensive boosts worth the loss of damage? is foresight worth it just for that one parry? and how about enduring march and murderous intent, they seem pretty useless to me.

    That's MRD. The aoE specialist class (until they f'up this too at 1.20).

    Be warned...you will die ALOT until you get used to steadfast. Steadfast is the main trait of MRD...once up (activates after you stay put for 10 seconds in active mode) it drastically increases your parry rate and enhances the effect of several actions, including changing skull sunder and brutal swing from single target to cone AoE.

    But steadfast only lasts until you move, so its easy to cancel it...just step back.

    Another important point is foresight + fracture. Foresight is a ver good defensive action (specially with steadfast up) and fracture is a very cheap WS that can only be used if following a parry (partially parry also works).

    If you learn how to use Steadfast and Fracture, you might be good for a while.

    Marauder is a hybrid between melee offense and melee defense, making the class more flexible in combat style.

    Fixy you have Thm spells, you should be having a blast on Mrd and probably won't need defender at all unless you're ending tanking an instance for a party.

    p.s. Ignore Enduring March, Murderous Intent.

    i find all of that simple, my job level is 45 and i steam roll everything pretty much, im not dying at all. i just dislike the idea of foresight because all it is is just one parry for 3 ap when i could something like obsess on my bar. and you never answered, is it worth using defender at all times?

    yeah i use a lot of thm spells, stygian and sac and i can go all day.

    i use dia to reduce mobs defense and punshing barbs to kill behest mobs easilly.

    For some reason its not in my post indeed o_o I do was pretty sure i said defender wasn't needed at all while soloing...my bad.

    Foresight does worth using. If you combo it with PGL's featherfoot and have some devent DEX and EVA you can, while soloing melee monsters, sometime finish them without being touched more than 1~2 times the entire fight.

    Obcess isn't an action i like much...and since it will be under affinity penalty it just become even worse IMO...i do would put foresight over obcess without thinking twice.

    Foresight & Featherfoot are worth it when you tank a boss where every evaded/nullified hit saves your healer mp.

    Obsess only works on whatever mob you use it on. So, for the rest of those 45 seconds, you're lowering your defense on every other mob you encounter.

    Foresight can reduce damage to 0 every 30 seconds and allow you to use Fracture for high damage and only costing 250 TP and stopping the mob's TP moves while pacified.

    So yes, it's worth it
